Do not use the water tanks. Find a little cup or something that gets the humidity to where you want it to be. I keep mine at 40%. With the correct container, you will get 2 or 3 days before you need to refill it. Wait until the humidity drops below 20%.

Lockdown is another story....

I have humidity problems too, and so DH made metal screens to fit in tupperware containers (I was afraid someone would hatch and drown during lockdown). I only have to fill maybe every 5 days.

A word of caution here. the Peking duck are very poor brooders and are normally incubated. The "broodiness has all breed out of them. Just like most modern day laying hens. Although there will be a few exceptional birds that will attempt it. Most of these quit after a week or two. I would recommend keeping a close eye on her and an incubator warmed up and ready to go.
Good to know. The only experience I really have with ducks came from a 22 year old mallard hen we were given when my great aunt passed away. I don't remember if we had a drake in with her, but at the same I don't remember her hatching anything.

I have rubbermade snack cups with a notch cut out of the top. They fit on the cup and tip sideways to fit beside the turner. Someone on a hatch thread suggested it. The cups are cheap.
snap a pic of it next time ron ok?

Sally - LOVE that cochin. So dang adorable!

3/4 tsp = 2 gallons so half of that.
I got the same - 3/8 tsp (which would be 1/4 tsp + 1/8 tsp)

I am using my Hovabator Genesis for the first time and am on day 13... I hatched twice before in the still air hovabator, and I am having a really hard time keeping the humidity stable in this one. The temps have been great!! I'm hatching at work, so I will be gone overnight and when I come back, my humidity will be at 12%, so I add water and it spikes up to 50%. I just can't seem to get it stable... Any suggestions?
Are you adding warm water? I do a dry hatch, so I don't add any water until day 18.

I am right there with you DURR. I have 23 hens.  Yesterday I got 2 eggs! 2!  My 3 cochin girls were moved to a different coop 4 weeks ago and haven't laid an egg since.  The marans next to them are also holding out.  I think they are either very eggstapated or on strike.  I have no clue what is going on with the other 15 girls though.  They need to get busy.  I am averaging 4-6 eggs from them a day right now and that is significantly lower than the 10 - 12 I get in summers.  All of them are healthy, their combs are bright red...something has to explode sooner or later.

Mine are the same way, bright combs and waddles just holding out on me. The only one that is laying is a new pullet that just laid her first egg a week ago. Everyone else is all on strike! Blasted birds better kick it in gear before March 2nd!! Lol!! Or I'll have to buy my hatch-a-long eggs!!

I will be joining this hatchalong with Serama eggs from my own girls, and with the Duccle eggs I won in the NYE hatchalong!! Where/how do I get signed up?
