Coffee in hand, birds out and my second rooster is in salt brine since last night. Going to be a great day with horsradish mashed potatoes on the side.

Alrighty, I'll start to collect eggs from the girls this weekend but am wondering if there is to be a 24 egg minimum for best hatch rate again this year? I'm still lucky to get 2 eggs a day without lighting. May start keeping them aside and turning sooner to ensure 24 at set.

2 a day, I hope they start to pick up soon for you. I was only getting 1 a day through Nov Dec and January (on occasion 2-3 eggs a day) now im lucky enough to be getting 10 a day but im sure my girls will go on strike since I just rotated them around into new pens. Oh I hope not.

I'm not going to set very many. I don't need that many with a bunch from the hatchery coming April. I also have 6 4 week olds in basement from a test run. Sure is fun though!
