Its getting to that final countdown. We are T- 13 days to set day!!! Woot Woot! Some are even starting to collect eggs. Im wondering if I should go ahead and use my cruddy LG and have two bators going! If only my hens would get with the program. Breeding pens are giving me zero eggs. Mixed laying flock...plenty. Why oh why!!!!

Ok...time for some Fun Chicken Facts

Roosters perform a little dance called ‘tidbitting’ in which they make sounds (food calls) and move their head up and down, picking up and dropping a bit of food. Researchers have found that females prefer males that often perform tidbitting and have larger, brighter combs on top of their heads. Scientists think that the rooster’s wattle helps him to gain a hen’s attention when he is tidbitting.
that explains why they like dart so much, lol!

arent they so cute?? all grown up now though.. I bottle fed them last december, intending to eat them when they grew up since they were Billies. LOL that didnt work out. I got too attached!

Pic overload today!

We hatched two of our own Black Cochin!
This is the first with Harmony..... (she is loving her fake nails daddo put on her LOL)

And this guy was hatched with an infection and big round belly, glad I already knew everything about it!

After I put vetericyn on his belly and navel I set him in a cup so he could stay upright
he was having a terrible time staying upright with that ball!

Lockdown Blue/Splash Amercauna, our cochin and a silkie

A Frizzle Serama

And the new TINY OMG TINY sprites!! Button Quail!! already spittin eggs out!

Great pictures Sally..who's the dolly of a girl there? Pretty girl...

And, how is that little one doing, sitting up more? Maybe I'm asking too soon. Not sure how long ago you took the pictures. Let us know. :)

I've decided that whatever I collect today and what I have had for the past 2 days, will get set tonight or tomorrow. I'll start saving for the hatch with tomorrows eggs. Man I wish all of my birds were laying!

Well my husband is looking at incubator plans so we can have more than one and is talking about building multiple coops for breeding our own birds. I think he has been bitten by the hatching bug.
