The 4th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long

Good morning! Into my first cup of the day. Oh boy, what sad stories! Thieves. Ugh! Well I guess just about everybody has their own story. I've lived in 4 major cities in Canada & have experienced a crime in every one. Most being the car getting broken into for the stereo. Once, just vandals driving around in their car, shooting out windows of parked cars with a BB gun. Last one occurred in a Toronto parking lot about 2 months ago. Middle of the day. They smashed 2 windows & grabbed my teen son's school backpack. Guess they thought there would be a nice laptop computer in there. Nope. Just textbooks, which I normally would have had to pay to replace them, but school was up for permanent closure.

Since moving to the country over 3 years ago, worst thing that happened, was having to replace our mailbox. I'm guessing a baseball bat was involved. Seems to be how folks welcome you to the country around here. Lol! When our neighbours across the street moved in, their mailbox got blown up with dynamite.

Yikes!! Dynamite-- what a mess!

Reminds me of a story my BIL told years ago, how his boss kept losing his as it was on a curve in the road and a perfect target. He replaced it a number of times, replacing with stronger and better material, until the day came when the design was bomb proof: extra large mailbox with wide PVC tube inserted and concrete poured between, and set on a lolli column.. The next time . . . the broken bat was on the ground and the mail box was still standing!

Goooooooooooood Morning, BYC! I'm having coffee, can I get anyone else a cup?
Yup, a good day for a cup!!! Morning!!

Odd how at funerals we get to see and visit with people that we don't otherwise have time to see. The silver lining.

Thanks for getting back to me. So, to add a comment of my own...do I press "reply' or go to another button. I can't figure out how to do this?
If I want to comment on another post, I use the quote button and write my comment. Helpful in this forum when many posts are flying around.

If you press the multi, you can string several quotes together that are related, or each one is a different topic.

Reply will take you to an empty box to make a comment, or start something new . I prefer to scroll down to the comment box my self. but either wayworks.

Heads up there are two formats this forum may subject you to-- I haven't figured out how it decides which I must work with. ONe I find easy the other drives me nuts. But it works.

So I'm 193 post behind, I'm not trying to catch up as a storm is approaching, I'll have breakfast and go back out to make sure everyone still has feed and water as it is still below zero here. I have been buttoning down what I will be setting, so out of my group, I will have barred rocks, Nice dark Olive eggs, Lavender/OE, Lavender AM's, Belgium d'Uccle Mille Fleur and Mottled. Lavender/barred rock, and I got my hands on so Silkie Feathered Ameraucana and Wheaten Marans. Oh yeah I'm going to hatch out some corturnix quail.

Argh! I was all set to join this again this year, but my hens have other ideas it seems. Hopefully I will have some decide to start laying again this week and will have some to set for the hatch a long.

Incubator & Hatcher... All ready to go! I'm hatching!

Yipee!!! Welcome!!!

I want to join this hatch as I have 50 or so eggs coming this week.  Am I in the right spot? Is this all I have to do to be part of the 2013 Easter hatch a long?

I borrowed a hovobator 1602n from a neighbor and cleaned it, firing it up now. I will need a thermometer since the only one I have is a culinary meat thermometer,

Yep, you're in the hatch now!
another question is 'how should I post..always as a reply to someone? What if I just want to post a statement. Sorry to be dumb, but I haven't figured out how to add to a conversation. I love this forum. I have learned so much.
You can either scroll to the bottom and type in the reply box, or click the "Post a Reply" button.
