I'd move the incubator to another room. We turn heat down in winter at night too but at hatch time I set it at 65F and leave it for 3 weeks. It's probably less money than heating a storage room with electric. And if your space heater doesn't have a thermostat then your going to have fluctuations anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion Egghead_Jr, but there really isn't anywhere else I can put it. I said "back bedroom" but to give you a clearer idea, our house is a smaller one story with 3 bedrooms down one hall on the west half of the house. One of these, which is across from the Master bedroom at the end of the (short) hallway, is the room the incubator is in. It is on the south west corner of the house. The only reason it is unoccupied at the moment is because of some room re-arranging after my Gpa passed away last year and we wanted to re-do the floor in this room before moving a bed and other furniture back in it. So it is currently a seed starting room, and duckling brooding room, a sick hen room, and now, a hatching room!

Not sure why the temp dips so much in it at night, perhaps if I left the door open all the way to the hallway... Anyway, I will try the space heater, and yes, it does have a thermostat. Thanks anyway for trying to help!

Today is SET DAY!!!

i have 62 to set. I realized I don't have enough room in my Bator. So now I have to quickly find an extra...
That happened to me as well. The breeders sent extras so I am putting 10 eggs into an LG still incubator with no fan or turner. I have the eggs in in eggs cartons with holes in the bottom of each cup for air circulation. To turn I will use the book under the bator method to tilt the eggs rather than going into the bator and turning. I am doing a dry 'er' hatch this time as so many here suggested it but will go to 70% humidity at lockdown. My other LG has a fan and a turner but even after the 24 rest of these shipped eggs I am going not turn the turner on until after 3-4 days to allow the air cell to settle. High Anxiety time! Good luck to you!

I am in!

I won't get to post much until my computer gets fixed (should be done next week). It's hard to do much on my phone... but I have eggs ready to go today!

Today is set day...................12 noon YOUR time.

For those of you setting a bit early or a bit late, it's not a problem. We are not doing any time sensitive contests where you MUST set on time to win.

Candled a sampling of my duck eggs tonight that were set on Saturday! They are looking good, its been exciting so far.

Nice photo!

WOO-HOO I have 50 beautiful hatching eggs that arrived today from Papa's Poultry and TLS_Ranch in Northern CA. Despite being stuck for 2 and 3 days in the Charlotte NC post office all arrived in perfect condition. They are resting on my kitchen counter getting ready to jump into the bators. I am so excited. So I am in the Easter hatch-a long....ans my number is 50 eggs!
Welcome to the hatch!
Congrats to everyone on their egg arrivals!!!! Question: are we setting at 12:00 pm no matter where we live?
Yup, 12 your time zone.
All ready... Just waiting to put into the incubator. Just my own I collected over the last 7 days.

Can't wait to see how tomorrow goes...
I think you need 2 more eggs there.

I am setting some today, but some of my eggs arent getting here till next week? 1. do they count? 2. should i post when they are all "officially" in the incubators? or do the moderators want to know what is going in today?
Next week is a bit late. Just count what you are setting today.

I am in! I have 12 Barred Rock eggs ready to go in at noon. But we have been having storms all night and lost power once. So I may have to wait until later today or tomorrow to set.
Next week I will be setting some coturnix quail eggs if all goes well.
This is my first Easter hatchalong. I know it will be fun having so many people hatching at the same time, but I sure do get behind on reading all the post quick. I don't know how all you guys/gals do it, especially the moderators of this hatchalong.

I want to play! I have 98 eggs ready to go in but I'm unclear on the rules & how do I sign up. I'm new to BYC & not real sure about how to navigate around the site.

Your post here puts you in. The various contests have links on page 1. I don't think it's too late to guess how many eggs will be set so go there right away and post your guess.

You'll want to take a picture of all your eggs to enter the best hatch contest and post that here.

I've been ignoring this thread. I just skimmed through over 600 posts, but I promise to keep up this time.

Anyways, I have 11 silver laced cochin bantam eggs ready to be set at noon today. Some have ruptured air cells and most of them have dislocated air cells from shipping. Oh well, all I can do is hope for the best!

400

I'm in! Actually I set them yesterday since I had eggs that I received earlier in the week and I really didn't want to chance waiting another day and a half.

In the bator I have:
15 BBS Orpingtons (from Slackwater)
14 lavender Orpingtons
8 BLRW from my hen
5 EE from my other hen

Filled the turner for a total of 42 eggs! I haven't hatched anything for a couple of years so I'm excited to get it up and running again. :)
