The 4th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long

These are the eggs I set this evening. They were put amongst a bunch of already incubating eggs so I took the photo before they went in. I hope that's okay. It would be hard to differentiate them in a photo.

So, the first group I set on the 9th at noon was 7 SFH and I've already submitted a photo for them.

This group is 11 Hedemora and 13 Hamburgs, so 24 altogether.

I have, but I have to many other things to do and spending 1/2 turning all those eggs and having the door open or my knocking the arm loose from my clumsiness, just doesn't cut it. LOL Plus this thing is 3 shelves that are 2 holders deep. I have to pull the first ones out to get to the back ones. Such a pain. I did a lot of hand turning when I wasn't so dang old. heh

Some ppl on here that have a lot of eggs just tilt the whole bator from side to side. That way dont have to turn each

I should have known better, but I didn't think of it so when I tilted the whole incubator the cardboard carton full of eggs got soaking wet Just something to keep in mind. U'm hoping I didn't do any damage.... I should have kept a closer eye on the water level.

This doesn't work if you have water in the bator. Most bators have drain holes and the water will spill out.

I refuse to left that suck more than once a year! LOL It's a Sportsman and made of wood. To heavy for this old chick.

Yay, I was able to find 12 chicken (Black Copper Maran) hatching eggs, so I set them in the incubator tonight with the duck eggs I already have going. A total of 41 eggs! - Note my picture only shows 40, one of the duck eggs failed and I had already tossed it before I took the new picture.

My incubator looks MUCH better full, although I should have thought about it a little more and asked for a 13th egg when I picked them up tonight. The empty hole is just going to stare me down for the next 21 days!

I have been candling my duck eggs with a small LED flash light - that worked fine for the duck eggs, what do I do with the Maran eggs? I can't see anything, do I just hope for the best?
