It's because you didn't ask about what was already cooking in my other incubators. With the other 107 eggs, I could only come up with 30 empty spots. I even had to lift out a carton of eggs that had been in there for a week in order to take the picture of the Easter set eggs

Now, if I can just break down and place the order, I'll be dangerous with the cabinet I've been staring at for the last week.

I have been candling my duck eggs with a small LED flash light - that worked fine for the duck eggs, what do I do with the Maran eggs? I can't see anything, do I just hope for the best?

I put one flashlight under them and one over them. If they are developing they look dark inside. If they are no good, they kind of glow.

What is wrong with this picture? We see it often if we go to a feed store with chicks.

Good price though!

That spelling is always a dead give away.

More goat pictures as promised....

What a cutie, love the tri color.

Thank you.:) He is a pure American Bulldog. Okay I set eggs yesterday at around 1 pm. Now here is a very dumb question: I thought my incubator held 41 eggs but it has 42 eggs in it so was I not suppose to put one near where the automatic turner motor is? This is my first time ever so I don't have a clue. btw its a mix of LF bbs Orps, EEs and EE over BCM.
It's just fine. I have 43 in mine. (1 is stacked) I read that it gets pretty warm right there. I left the 3 surrounding holes empty just to be safe.

I set my eggs on Thursday since we were on vacation this weekend. 4 banty and 2 leghorns. Is anyone using the Brinsea with the auto turn. Do i need to manually turn the eggs i have been watching it and it just rotates then around. I did mark the eggs and the mark is always in the same spot. I am confused should I be turning them or is it working right?

I have the octogon advance and the turner tilts the whole bator. Works great! I'm not using it for this hatch because I have too many eggs to hatch.

Sally - adorable duck house!

Tadpole - that puppy looks like a sweetie!

Shawn - you're killing me with the goat pics. I have major goat cravings.

Red - can't see the video, but from the picture, I would leave that egg. Looks viable.

Deb - okay, I feel better now. My DH would have a heart attack if I bought a cabinet bator.

Thats how the turners all work they tilt the eggs not turn them around. AS long as the embryo doesnt sit in the same spot its fine. I dont even mark the eggs i hand turn now I just turn them about 2 revolutions and thats usually about 1/2 the whole 180 degrees. but im not exact and they hatch

just for the fun of it i totaled up what eggs were currently documented in the hatch out of about 139 people who have taken pics there are about 5537 eggs total, and there are about 136 people who haven't photographed their eggs yet... no guarantees on the correctness of the numbers, i just quickly ran them through my calculator once to see where we were.
