Quote: Thanks So Much! I did go uncheck it, but I think what I'm trying to figure out is how to nest the quotes? I see others do it, quote inside of quote, inside of quote etc...I know it's something really simple that I'm missing.
Yes, I understand what you are saying. You have the box checked in your profile to remove nested quotes. Follow the directions I gave above and uncheck the box in red below.
Congrats! We have 13 in the brooder and 12 either drying off, pipped n resting, and a few zippers.
Harmony did well! she had one dead in the bunch, the rest are showing life to hatching!
We had 24 eggs shipped from CPL and about 6 of our own to start, therefore I am seriosly impressed with this shipped hatch!
CPL packed those eggs AWESOME and added heat packs, I think the difference with this batch was the fact that they were double boxed
and the boxes were LARGE and she had those big huge bubbles in the outer box with the heat packs, which I am sure took
most of the road jostling away! It probably is an expensive way to ship, but in the end I would think well worth paying extra
to have them packaged good!

Winter? What winter? We haven't had winter yet here in CA. I think we've had 2 storms.Okay is anyone else as sick of winter.as I am. I have bad feeling we will not get a spring here in Ohio, it will probably go from 32* to 90* with no nice weather. All it does is rain, make the yard a muddy mess, then ond day of sun drys alittle, then rains again. AHHHHHJ
We do have a humidifier in the basement, I might be able to use that next time. I did hold off adding water until last night in the Genesis I use for the hatcher. I see several pips today, so I'm hopeful!Originally Posted by karimw
If you have a dehumidifier you could plug that in the room for a while but I think at this point 40's would be ok. You could maybe try not adding any water until you see the first pip when you go into lockdown .I don't know how the reptipro works or what it looks like. I only have styrofoam hovabators and can see the eggs fromthe window.
i love using pallets. We once faced 8 stalls with hardwood boards from pallets and clear coated them. They were beautiful!Anyone else using pallets and scrap lumber to build their coops? My husband got a bunch of pallet tops (the ones with the solid wood board) from his job and they look to be the perfect thing to build a low cost coop. We are also using pallets to make paddocks for our pigs.
I always watch Craigslist for odd things that could be used as a coop or a brooder, You never know what you'll find!oh yea! My brother just got done building a new coop out of all pallet boards. Best way to get them apart is a saws- all cut the nails in between the boards. That way you do not bust any boards trying to separate them. Cut the nails that hold the board together in between the joints. I took an old wooden cedar playground and made a coupe out of it. Works great. We are all for upcycling![]()

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING EVERYONE !!! I am fixing to have to get my other incubator going. My heritage sraight comb show quality Rhode Island Red hatching eggs will be here soon. I am eggcited about having a chance to get some of them. He specializes in them. Very strict with them. If any have off coloring even after second molt he culls. He strives to keep the best of the best in them.
ok I admit I am addicted to hatching!
also looks like I will have to build a special pen for them![]()

DURR, congrats on your first baby!![]()
WindDancer, sounds like fun!
I am trying to figure out reasons why I should NOT go and get new baby chicks at the feed store if all of my eggs scratch. Or why I shouldn't get frizzled Cochin eggs from a friend who's giving them away for free................
Well, I have fed the dogs, done the dog's shot, fed the cats, fed the flock, moved the feed, eaten breakfast, and caught up on this thread. It's back to bed for me, wahoooo! It's been such a long week. I was dizzy from exhaustion by the time I went to bed last night.
I know this is beating a dead horse tackling the day thing again but...
It depends on how you pose the question: What day is it? That could be stated "I'm on day 1" or "starting day 1". How many days into incubation? "0", there's just no other correct way to express no days gone by.
If you have fifty cents it can be represented as $0.50. Note there is not a dollar yet. This would be the same as day 0 or working on day 1.
