for everybody i promised the eggshell tutorial to!

i didnt use a fancy background, i just used a canvas that I would have used to paint on. And I found crushing the eggshell directly onto the glue isn't as nice as when you crush it elsewhere and pick it up with your toothpick and handplace.

Great, thanks for the tips, love the project!

Beautiful egg!

Step away from the bator. Go to town and go shopping, clean your house, do ANYTHING other than stare at the bator. (trust me, I've been there)
Welcome!
Welcome!
Great advice! I did. Picked up some brown crowder peas, 1 Florida Tangelo tree, 1 Blood Moro Orange tree (to complete our little citrus orchard), a small water and feeder for the brooder box. Hoping for the best. Now going to finish up supper and go plant until dark. (Also let our chickens range a bit) Should hopefully keep me busy! Thanks so much for the little kicker. . .maybe tonight!

I have 11 more days to wait before I get to see even ONE adorable little chick...

Waiting...Waiting...Waiting... Hmm, maybe I will candle some of the questionable ones again tonight... This IS day 10, right? (for those who started on Sat, March 9th at Noon) I DID actually get my old Mini Maglite flashlight working again today! Just had to change the bulb - with that handy spare they put in the end of the flashlight!

Unfortunately it is NOT a Maglite Pro - just the regular one, but it does seem to have a pretty bright focused beam... here's hoping it shows things up clearly!

Bumming..... took 11 eggs out of the bator - mostly clear - 3 blood rings one started developing and quit. I still have 3-4 questionable ones in there... i really wasn't sure about those wiggly air sacs.. and i guess i was right. AND one of my little baby chicks died today. She was the one with yukky on her. I had to help with the shell. she never seemed that strong, and i don't think she was eating much. on a better note... the silkie-cochin/silkie eggs are doing great! much better than the shipped eggs - 5/5 growing well!
