Glad you found us ! What day are your eggs due!?Evening All, I just saw this thread. Well after reading everything about dry hatching we did it. My DH;s co-worker gave him 18 fertilized eggs from different breeds of chicken. I know 3 of them are most likely Amerecauna type because of the green egg shell. My DH has been busy for about a month or two. He built a incubator out of our old 20 year old Coleman 54 cooler. Our broody black Cochin bantam- licorice was given 4 of the eggs on March 9 @ 4:43 pm PST. This will be her second hatch. She is a great mama. We gave her 4 because the eggs are from larger breed of hens and we wanted him to have a few hatched egg if the incubator didn't work out well. Well I am keeping notes and we put the other 14 egg in the incubator @10:15 pm PST. The incubator can only hold 15 larger eggs, ex. RIR, Redstar or Buff Orpington. This has been interesting. We candled them yesterday, even the 4 under Licorice and all of them had little embryos moving around. We only had 1 dud. I'm just not sure about veins, and no movement. I just can't wait for them to hatch!![]()
