Making Easter Deviled Chickie Eggs for a potluck at work tomorrow. I think they turned out awfully cute. :) Wow!! Those look prettier than the picture! You did a great job on them!!
Evening All, I just saw this thread. Well after reading everything about dry hatching we did it. My DH;s co-worker gave him 18 fertilized eggs from different breeds of chicken. I know 3 of them are most likely Amerecauna type because of the green egg shell. My DH has been busy for about a month or two. He built a incubator out of our old 20 year old Coleman 54 cooler. Our broody black Cochin bantam- licorice was given 4 of the eggs on March 9 @ 4:43 pm PST. This will be her second hatch. She is a great mama. We gave her 4 because the eggs are from larger breed of hens and we wanted him to have a few hatched egg if the incubator didn't work out well. Well I am keeping notes and we put the other 14 egg in the incubator @10:15 pm PST. The incubator can only hold 15 larger eggs, ex. RIR, Redstar or Buff Orpington. This has been interesting. We candled them yesterday, even the 4 under Licorice and all of them had little embryos moving around. We only had 1 dud. I'm just not sure about veins, and no movement. I just can't wait for them to hatch!

well today while turning the Compost one popped YUCK the smell

Wow who did you order from? Yucky!

Oh and good morning everyone :) hope everyone has a great day! Just 3 more days and will hopefully have 20+ eggs going into lockdown!

Morning everyone! Candled last night (halfway through day 11 for me) and out of 40 set, I found 3 clear and 2 questionables. The two looked to my very untrained eye to possibly be blood rings/early quitters. Everything else had something in them, but I have no idea if I have 30+ developing normally, or a bator loaded with dead embryos. Dark masses floating, but I could not see veins. My night vision is poor, though, and I only waited about five minutes in the dark to let my eyes adjust. We'll see!

I'll ask the hubby tonight if there's a way to get rid of it. We've also been getting calls to our cell phones from D.C. WTH??? We're in Ontario & getting telemarketers from the U.S. harassing us??? We never answer them, but I did a reverse lookup & found out this company is calling lots of Ontario cell #s. Sheesh! (202) 407-3261 is the # to avoid!
