Yes I have a Farm Innovators bator with a fan and turner. Mom got me the deluxe model for Christmas. Figured for my first go round and with my busy work schedule, it was better to have one that was a little more set-it and forget-it. I had only one clear egg and all the rest have been developing nicely. I was worried about them every step of the way. My husband calls my process "a laboratory controlled environment" because I have been so meticulous about everything including making sure the temp and humidity stay constant and reading way too many websites, forums and books about incubation and hatching. The first round are all wiggling away in their eggs in the bator since lockdown. I'm so excited for the first pip. I'm hoping it will happen sometime Sunday while I'm home for the whole day.

Wow! Amazing video! Are you just using a flashlight? It is so clear!

Gotta love those tricky thermometers! Give a person a heart attack!

Yeah, just a little led. The egg is white though, so that helped a lot. I got really lucky with this one I think.

Thanks Ron, I didn't know that anything about mite strips. I will check them out at Murray McMurray. I did put a plastic nesting mat this time. I hope it helps. Thank for reminding me about the diatomaceous earth. I'll put some on her today.

So little time to catch up!
Bison. Lol.
I'm using a Coleman MAX flashlight wrapped in foil at the end. Works great on my Marans eggs. Not sure on those REALLY dark Marans eggs though! I also have the small L.E.D. one for my lite coloured eggs.
I wish time went faster!

Your Welcome!

Broody Hens are very nice to see and read about.

were they in lockdown with the others?

These are the only ones I have right now, and yes, they were in lockdown. They're under a pullet that went broody. I was so sure they were all dead! I went out in the dark hours of the morning today and candled most of the eggs. I found one with a live chick in it! It had pipped internally and was cheeping away with that light on it. I was flabbergasted! I hope I come home from work to a chick!

Have three others developing that look to be around day 4 or 5 or so. If the broody hatches her chick and leaves the nest, I've got the bator warming up for the latecomers.

Have you candled them? I'm sorry.

Is it a still air hovabator? If so, you want the temp at 101.5 degrees. If it has a fan, you are good on your temp.

Just this morning. Found one live chick, a couple definite quitters that I'll be removing later today, and one that looks like it was almost there, then may have quit

There were three eggs developing well when I checked them almost a week ago. So that's 2/3, one quitter and one pipper........where's the other one???
