Wolf-- love the picture, very professional! Must be that new phone!!

Yes it is! Thank goodness I have somewhat clearer pics now. Can't wait to be able to take pics of all the birds.

But in the meantime, I'm going to take pics of all the damage in my yard. The Marans pen was still being worked on and wasn't secured to the bottom frame. It lifted up and onto rabbit cages and cages that are holding a pair and trio of birds I was trying to keep secure. Yeah that didn't happen. My yard is destroyed, I have birds all over running loose and the wind is supposed to keep up through wednesday. I can't believe how bad it is out there.
Yikes! NOt good. Keep safe!!
Quote: x3 Thank you to all the organizers and sponsers!! You were like swans on a pond.

Question for you hatching experts: If I have eggs in the bator that I still need to incubate, but the bator is stinky because of another chick that hatched from an earlier hatch......is it okay to take out the current eggs, clean the bator quickly, and then put them back in? Our house has suddenly become quite smelly.

As long as the egg has not pipped, you can take it out to clean the incubator.

I have a dedicated incubator that I hatch in. On Friday I hatched Blue and Black Australorps and tonight I am setting up the incubator to hatch Black Penedesencas!

X2. A broody will get off the eggs to eat, drink and go potty. As long as they are not ready to be hatched, they'll be fine. In fact, the bacteria from the smelly bator could cause more harm than the eggs cooling for 20 minutes or so.

Quote: I filled a jug with warm water (slightly hotter than comfortable for my hands). Gently placed the eggs in the water and waited for some movement. Even my sceptical OH got his specs on and stuck his nose over the jug lol. There are some videos on youtube you can check out.

Congratulations LONDON HENS and leannybabe!

And THANK YOU, Time-Out for making the contest possible!
It's easy enough to offer some eggs. You, Kelly and Sally did all the work. Thank YOU

My hatcher stank this time around too. I've never experienced that, it was awful. I kept sniffing the eggs, but they were all fine. Luck would have it that we had two different visitors while it was at its smelliest too
