My hatchlings are all bantam and yes they typically come a day or two early.
Now I have a problem. 6 eggs at lockdown. 1 has hatched, one has a big hole about the size of a dime. One has a big hole too, but its in the middle of the egg. Two more have small pips. The last nothing yet.

If I open the incubator to help the messed up one wont I shrink wrap the others? The dry one is climbing around and bumping the others. Any thing I need to do besides leave them alone?

Candeled my 13 remaining shipped silkies eggs and they are all still moving they go into lockdown tomorrow!!!! So excited

My 15 backyard mix eggs all look great too! They are standard size breeds.

I am gonna have to sell some chickens! I am ending up with more than I should but it is so hard to resist the little fuzzy butts. I have banded myself from tractor supply till after the chick days is over!

1 month ago I had 6 chickens that are 10 minths old. Then I ordered some, ended up hatching some and buying some at tsc plus 2 ducks to add to the 3 I got last June. I have 26 new chicks and 28 in the bator! Oh my

I will keep all pullets and the cockerals will go to the freezer except for one. The silkies I hope to keep all if the roos can get along and not hurt each other. I hope for a good number of pullets

I would leave them alone since you have so many pips. Your chick will kick the other eggs around, but it won't hurt them. In fact, I find that having chicks running around in the bator encourages the remaining chicks to hatch. Sometimes the hatched chick will even "assist".

Which one is messed up? Big pips are normal. The chick will often enlarge a pip before it starts zipping. Pips in the middle are normal too.

SOOOOOO............if everyone set on Saturday, are 19 day old chicks haching now? or are there early setters here?

CONGRATS EVERYONE!

your all making me so excited for marshie's very first hatch!
I set mine really late Friday night (like 12hrs before we were supposed to) so mine are all just early hatchers. I have 4 chicks out and 3 externally pipped. If those 3 make it I will have a total of 7 new babies! YAY! Now if only I could figure out what they are...

What is the mom? I hatched some solid yellow Olive Eggers in my last hatch. They turned out to be splash. Dad is a Blue Ameraucana, and mom is a Blue Copper Marans. They're pretty!

Congrats on your hatchlings!
Thanks - I believe mom to be my white EE with green legs. She was molting my first batch of eggs, and when she was done suddenly I had olive eggs, one a day. One of the yellow chicks has some black feathering - oh I hope a splash! Can't wait to see until they fluff up. And to see my other eggs!

I also set late that Friday night...so the 2 chicks who hatched yesterday were early birds (Speckled Sussex shipped...Ebay purchase)- day 19 chicks - out of 32 eggs.
Today , day 20, I have 2 pips in BCM eggs- shipped from TX
So tomorrow, day 21, I hope to have those 2 hatched and a BUNCH more pipped or better yet, zipping and hatching.
The 2 early ones will need to come out and go into the brooder then too...
So nerve wracking! I spent today cooking for our church Maundy Thursday dinner that I went to this evening...so I at least wasn't glued to the incubator...
Good Hatching Luck to everyone!!! Maybe Good Friday will prove to be good for hatching!!!
