I have a question for those of you doing staggered hatches: How do you manage your brooders/space?

Last year I hatched and brooded one batch at a time, but this year I expect to be setting eggs every week. Do I need a brooder for each batch? How long can pass between the first chick hatched and the last one you can safely add to that brooder?

I use stackable totes. ( clear) as brooders. This way there is always an extra available to grab out of the garage if a baby is getting picked on or the age span is to great ( a set of three week olds won't be gentle on 3 day olds)... Until I can see that they're playing nice and start putting them together to grow out. It's also serves as an easy way to set up emergency pens.

I'm really hoping that the weather will warm up and the girls will start laying more... Slackers! And of course the first year that I have my own eggs to hatch
