These are the ones that have hatched in the last day.
Cute babies!

Count me in! It will be my first hatch-a-long:)

Can't wait!

Leslie
Glad you joined us!

I'm gonna try it! This will be my very first attempt with an "antique" incubator my son found in his basement. I'll be checking temps and reading everything I can between now and then. More babies please!!!!!
Cool! Be sure to heat it up first and check temperature.

How do I join?
By posting here. Consider yourself joined.

I will be hatching my own backyard mix. I have a BR rooster, 4 hens 1 BR 1 RIR and 2 EE. I am super excited to hatch my own eggs. It will be my 2nd time hatching eggs.
Welcome!

I would like to join

Welcome!
Count me in!

I got an incubator for Valentines day last year and still haven't used it. This will be my first hatch. I am also new to chickens; we lost 6 of our first 10 last year (not counting the two "wild chickens" that adopted us). I will probably set a couple different colors of Brahmas and may throw something crazy in the mix.

So egg-cited!
Over a year without using it?

YaY! I am so excited to join in the fun. I will be hatching chicken eggs and hopefully guinea fowl as well. I just can't wait.

Guineas too!

WHAT

!?!?

You made it an entire year and didn't do a single hatch. I have no clue how you did it

.
ALL of us here know you are now officially going to be one of us, an addict a fellow hatcher.

So exciting, the first hatch is the best.
I know, right?

Note to self: NEVER underestimate a three day old White Faced Black Spanish Chick! Trying to photograph 6 chicks and a few eggs ended up with three broken eggs and chicks running all over the counter and luckily none fell on the concrete floor! So I had to do two chicks and those were very difficult!

These were from the weekends hatch, some of the large batch of "quality control" hatchlings

Just have to share, I love these birds!

Adorable babies!

I'm in!!!

I have Ancona Duck & Black Spanish Turkey eggs for sale. $3 per egg plus priority shipping

I also have SBEL (blue wheaten Ameracauna over Leghorns), Icelandics, and Black Australorps $18 dozen plus priority shipping

I always include extras and have had really good success shipping the past two years and people have had pretty good hatching rates. PM with any questions.
Welcome Shawn! Off to google Ancona ducks.

I forgot to mention I'm also hatching croad langshans! I'm really excited about these birds!
Ummm, where did you get those? A friend and I have been looking all over for Croad's. I can't wait to see pictures of your eggs!

I have an empty incubator. I have an empty brooder. This must be rectified. I have room to build another run and coop. Easter is as good a time as any to hatch new fluff balls. I am in. Now to see if I can arrange for some eggs to arrive here in time!
Must be rectified.

I'm in! I will be hatching royal palms and my chicken mix. I wish I could find some EE's to do for this.
Welcome!

Hygrometer. Where can I get a GOOD one. Does anyone have one they'd recommend? I'd like to buy one before I set for this hatch...don't trust the one I have (Accurite thermometer/humidity from Walmart).
Any pet store that has reptile supplies. I got mine at PetCo.

I'm in! Will be my first time hatching eggs AND those chicks hatched will be my first chicks too!! Cannot wait! Been waiting for this for a YEAR! :) Going to be buying the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco to hatch in. Hopefully I won't drive everyone too crazy with pics and questions ;-)

Jen
Welcome! Big Hatch-a-longs are great for those new to hatching - LOTS of experienced hatchers here.

I'm getting the croad langshans from Gracefulchickens.com another byc friend is driving up to the farm to pick up eggs on March 16th. I will post pictures when they arrive!

I tried about 4 different kinds of hygrometers last year and none lasted the season. From Walmart, the reptile kind from the pet store, etc. I finally broke down and bought a digital thermometer/hygrometer for $16.95 from Stromberg's this year. I've been using it in my cheese cave for the past few months and it's been pretty accurate and durable. The cheddar I was aging will be ready next week, so the hygrometer will get cleaned up and moved to the incubator for hatching season.

Welcome! Also check on the first post of this thread for links for sources for eggs.

That works. Welcome.

I hope you can join!

You can enter any contest for all of BYC, which will be most of them. There will be a couple of contests for hatchers only.

Good point! Everyone better borrow or buy another incubator.

Consider yourself joined.

Oh no! Why not?
I can't fit the hatch date into my schedule. I didn't check before I joined, I just thought it was far enough out I was going to be able to do it.
Oh, well, a king looks like a fool if he doesn't count the cost before going to war or building his castle. =(

You'll still be able to enter the contests for all BYC members!

We are IN!!!

After months of research and getting our chickens "just so" my 15 year old daughter, Hannah, and I will be doing our first "Hatch Along"!! We plan to set FBCM eggs and possibly some of the FBCM over buff orpington. We just wanna see what the maran/orpington chicken grows up to look and lay like…experimenting is fun!!
big_smile.png
We recently bought a 5 month old pair of black bantam cochins (my daughter's favorite) and if she lays, we will let her sit and add those to our number too!!

We have a 4 test eggs (French Blue Copper Maran over a French Black Copper Maran) in our Little Giant incubator right now that were started on March 1st. This is our first ever try at incubating…keeping our fingers crossed and hoping our little fuzzy butts make it through without any issues!!

Not sure if I can join in. My incubator will be occupied but maybe I'll have a broody hen that can accommodate the schedule.

Sounds so fun!

How exciting!  Are the geese as cool to candle as some of the breeds of ducks?  I love candling waterfowl seeing the beaks! amazing and I always candle way way too much with them :lau
i like candling geese eggs best! But you can only see if a egg is fertile at day 7-9 days or day 4 in you have a very bright light! Oh and at day 15-19 when candling you can see a little heart pumping! :)
