I have a question. Sorry if this has been asked already. There are so many pages of posts for this Easter hatch along, I would be here all day searching! Why is the set date for chicken eggs the 29th? 21 days from that (hatching day) would be April 18th, not the day before Easter. What am I missing?

Need a name for this recipe-- just winged it and the boys LOOOOOVE it!

In an oven proof pan, layer in chicken breasts ( no bone) and slather on mayo to dover. Be generous.
Sprinkle on cracked black pepper, garlic salt, oregano, almond flour and parmasan cheese. Bake til cooked thru at 350 for about 1 hour until lightly browned.

My kids are sucking this down. Very juicy, not dry, and tastey. I have been skipping the deboned chicken breasts lately because they are dry and tough. Not these.

You are correct!

March has 31 days so it was miscalculated.

If you set chicken eggs on sat the 29th(this is not day 1), then sunday Mar 30 is day 1 and so forth. If you count 21 days after set day(don't count set day) then eggs will hatch 21 days later on Sat Apr 19th.

I hope that makes sense.

If you set before noon on the first day, that day counts. Eggs begin incubating as soon as they warm up.

Did you see the chart I posted from Homestead website? It is not an exact science so it really does not matter but when most of us set at noon on the 29th and they hatch on Friday, remember this discussion....

I have always read and have also always passed on the info that day 1 is 24 hours after incubation has taken place.

Most always my hatches take place on what I would call day 21 and I guess you are calling day 22.

I don't recall this being the case for the other hatch alongs. For instance NYDH set day was on 12/11 and hatch day was on 1/1. So if your chart is correct then the hatch day for that would have technically been 12/31.

It's OK!

You really should raise your incubator .5 of a degree. Your hatches will be better if you do that.

The hatch date for the NYD hatch was the 31st. Hatching should have started on the 24 hour before the first at Noon.

So...everyone should plan on the hatch out day of April 18th instead?
