Umm, stupid question, but what's a rainbow layer?

Hatcheries call a mixed shipment of pullets that--a combination of white, green, blue, brown and dark brown pullets. It is often sold at a discount.

Better off getting the color of egg layers that you want from a breeder. It will take more time but man are the chickens nicer.

Good morning everyone.

Chicken Pickin where did you get your spitz

A woman right down the street from me raise a number of quality purbred chickens. One of which is the Appenzeller Spitzhauben. I just couldn't resist so I bought hatching eggs.

ITs running about 20-30 here for the daily highs-- weatherman better be right as said the normal high at the end of MARch is 50 here. He better be right or he might get egged!

Hygrometer. Where can I get a GOOD one. Does anyone have one they'd recommend? I'd like to buy one before I set for this hatch...don't trust the one I have (Accurite thermometer/humidity from Walmart).

I'm in! Will be my first time hatching eggs AND those chicks hatched will be my first chicks too!! Cannot wait! Been waiting for this for a YEAR! Going to be buying the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco to hatch in. Hopefully I won't drive everyone too crazy with pics and questions ;-)
