I have a better image- i scaled down the other ones quality so it would load faster. here is the full sized one let me know if it shows up clearer... it looks blurry still on this page, but in my photos it looks clear... odd

Maaaan, I thought I was safe in coming here "just to observe" because I thought it would be too late to set for an Easter Hatch (based on my recollection of last year's dates).

Crap. Now I have to pick my best incubator, clean and set it up to check its operation, then secure eggs.

Darn you all.

I just bought ten pullet chicks this week, too. Oh well. They're hatchery/feed store stock, so I think I may have to check with Papa Brooder for some good breeders' eggs.

So count me in.

Glad you joined us!
The number of eggs that will be setting just increased exponentially. I just found a wine cooler-bator for $100!
Now, what to fill it with?
Great score! Decisions, decisions!

I put up a whole thing on FB about how much I love my eggs. I take more pictures of them than I do my kids

Gorgeous eggs!

WOOHOO! Count me in! After these ducks hatch, I'll be freeing up my incubator for a bunch of mutt chickens.
Welcome!

Not too late, welcome!

This is what I was recommended. I did a little digging before I did it, and my final decision maker was reading about how too much calcium can affect the roo's. My one boy is my prize, I love him, and wouldn't do anything to risk harming him, so I switched. My girls look healthier too, and I swear their feathers seem really shiny. Maybe it's in my head, lol.

I'm a nest box stalker. Rarely does an egg pop out that I'm not there to catch, lol! I do polish them with a paper towel, but the Marans eggs are ridiculously shiny on their own. If a streak does get on one, I huff on it, and wipe with the paper towel. Told you's I'm obsessed with eggs. That's why I lust after Wolftracks purple egg......MUST HAVE ONE!

These will not be too dark of a green color. My Partridge Pene pullets lay much darker eggs.

I am working with Partridge for the Penedesenca Project.

My Cockerel and his girls:

Brand is the coolest rooster I know lol

lol. do you want some crele penedesenca rooster chicks to go with those pullets

To get a truer representation of the color take the pictures outside in the sun. Most Light bulbs shine tinted light. Incandecents shine yellow. Florecent shines green. Halogen goes blue. The only bulbs that will give the closest to real sunlight are the Reveal bulbs and the Full Spectrum lights
yep
