So, my eggs are on day 12. Originally set 39 eggs, 30 are still developing. Only lost one between the last time candeling till now. So far this is one of my best hatches! Guess I am finally getting the hang of my bator. (I think the fan I installed is helping also) But who cares! Hehe I am so excited!:weee

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, have some sick kids.. :(

which bator do you have!?!?!? seems like an excellent hatch rate so far!

We hit the 50's today! See? Woke up to frozen water in the chickens water dishes. I took out the heated one, thinking, I will just fill up the others from now on, since we are in March. I do remember, that we get frost and cold weather more often than not during March. Doesn't hurt to empty ice once in a while.
I'm happy with my hatch. 7 NN's, and 5 others..including an OE, A leghorn mix..has a lavender head! And a lot of black Ameraucanua mixes, can tell by the combs, and, a couple of Andalusia Blue mixes.

It is a home made bator. Other than the heating element and the fan. It is nothing impressive to look at but it works! :)

Ugly and crude, but functional.. Hoping to make a different one soon. :)

Please send laying vibes to my 100 quail. They are eight weeks old. I want them to get going so I can set 250 of them for the hatch-A-long.

I want to throw of the averages lol
Good vibes coming your way!

So excited have rhodebar eggs coming and found a good resource for some hatching eggs for the Easter Hatch Along.
Congrats! Good score!

The generator is reserved, to be picked up tomorrow. Whew!

Thanks for all the luck, it worked!

Now if I can jus keep it running all day and it will be enough to run the cabinet and tabletop bators............
Glad you got it all worked out!

My easter emu egg is 15 days into incubation and lost 16 grams from last week, so, that's pretty good. Still trying to post a vid of the other eggs wiggling.

Nice to hear it's still going!

Woo! I'm finally caught up. I didn't realize how much this thread grows in a day and a half.

So I drove the 4.5 hours to Meyers yesterday to pick up my fuzzybutts. I figure these fuzzies will provide plenty of cuteness while my current eggs are in the bator then those fluffies will keep me busy while I wait on my Hatch-A-Long eggs to hatch.

Hubby is NOT happy with me. I keep assuring him that the majority of the ones I hatch will be sold and that calms him a little. lol

Anywho here are my fuzzies!

Mystery Meal Maker (I'm thinking White Leghorn)

Dark Cornish (She's SO TINY! I can't believe this little thing will grow into a Cornish.)

Gold Laced Polish 1 (Little Bratty thing. Her Temp name is Brat. lol)

Gold Laced Polish 2 (Both Polish are very curious)

Blue Cochin ( So Pretty!)

And last but not least my Light Brahma
Adorable babies!

My bourbon red pair finally mated today!! now waiting for eggs. I wonder how long it will take

Yay! Turkeys! Surely they will be laying soon and you can start collecting.

Hi, I am thinking of purchasing 2 yr old Buff Orphington Hens. Need opinions as to if you think they would be traumatized to the point they wont continue laying eggs. I really didn't want to buy baby chicks and wait for eggs. Opinions please>

Thanks,

Dolly
They will stop after you move them, then within a couple of weeks start back up again. Chickens don't like change. They will lay, but as they get older they generally lay fewer eggs than the year before.
I searched "Spitz" and this is what came up:
Appenzeller Spitzhauben (not my pictures)

Shes giving me the broody face. I noticed her watching me for a week now, and she was getting mad when i take her eggs. She wont risk loosing anymore. Shes building her clutch and wont get off the nest

She's gonna have to wait a couple of weeks to get eggs. You'd better break the news to her tonight.

The random funny posting contest sounds fun.

I couldn't participate last year since I was at a wedding. DH said I was not allowed to use the phone to check in on BYC

Silly, you were supposed to wait until March 29th.

Good news on the eggs, not so good news on the kids.

I want to come but I am not sure where to go yet. I will have to find out. :) Hubby has off Friday so I should be able to come. (It is adults only right?!) Lol
Monday I got some kind of stomach bug, felt like someone was tying my guts in knots. Still had a little of it today.. But, I also got a call from school, Will was in the nurses office doubled over in pain... Now there is another one starting to complain of it too... I sure hope we get rid of it soon.

How can anyone call this ugly? I used to! But I love them now. This is my favorite so far, but there is a similar one drying
off, will see how it looks all fluffed up. But I am loving this one. Has a smaller comb than the other white and brown one.
