Finally I got a call form the PO about a Rhodebar rooster I bought. He got lost in transit! Arrived 2 days late!! Poor thing was in a box for four days. Luckily everything is ok. He came with all the NPIP paperwork and all testing paperwork. I still have him in quarantine for about a month to be double sure! He is in good spirits after eating and drinking some water. Been crowing this afternoon.

Ooh! I remember how this thread flew for the new year's hatch, so there's no way I'll be able to follow along much, but..

I would like to participate in the Hatch-a-Long!

Hopefully I'll have a broody still on set day. Got a couple setting now. I've had the incubators running constantly but haven't hatched a thing from them in months, so that will be a last resort. And I can set my own mutt babies.

Right place right time...DH went to the Sandlapper Poultry Show in Barnwell, SC.  The Cream Leg Bar association had a raffle for fertile eggs.  He did not win them, but he mentioned to the woman manning the  both that he  thought they were really pretty chickens.  She in turn asked if he would like two because someone who was to buy  them did not show up.  He asked how much she wanted and she said he could have them for free.   So off he went to find a box to take them home.  They are both pullets and nearing laying age.  :woot

Nice!

I would like to participate in the hatchalong!

Welcome

And I'm all caught up on messages again :) keeping up with you guys is tough!

Are you using the Nutridrench for poultry? I have had amazing results with that and an injured mourning dove. She flew into a window and put her eye out and addled her brain. I put her in a box away from light and fed her water with sugar and the Nutridrench from a syringe (no needle) for 2 days until I could get her to a member of the wild bird rehab. By then she was acting more normal (no more pacing in circles in shock). They were amazed that she had not died right off.

She's perking up. I have her in the brooder, but have it separated by wire from the other chicks. They would stomp on her. She is chirping now. :) I put her in a small cup at first, with a paper towel, and where the light could shine..almost on her. She felt so cold in the legs and feet..and..duh, she isn't a silkie, no feathers on those legs or feet, must be a polish, has the top like some of the silkies with the vaulted heads. Nope, not a silkie. :) I think she may make it!
