Speaking of chicken math. Where am j supposed to put my new babies?!? The brooder is FULL, I have a huge cage that I'm using for the chicks that are too big for the brooder but too small to be housed with my bantams. Dear Lord. Obviously I did not think this through. Guess I'll go buy a heat lamp and clear out a tote.

Notice the Shamrock Cafe?? I thought it was appropriate for the Eve of Mass Debauchery a.k.a St. Patty's Day, lol!

I love watching the morning news on St.Patty's Day when they broadcast from all of the local bars. I don't know how on earth people can stomach drinking that early in the a.m. but it's sure fun to watch

to the point I may have to break out the kids nebu I really need to where a mask when doing coops. When does one learn?
Thought you would think this pic was funny... Worked my rear off today too, and made a huge mess while doing it. Gutted every coop, then took a leaf blower to it to get in every crack. Dumped a pile of Sevin dust in each coop, closed doors and blew the heck out of it with the leaf blower. THEN went back in and doused each coop with DE. Dusted every bird. I am ashamed at what I found on some of my birds vents. I really would encourage everyone to turn your girls upside down and inspect the vent. EVEN if they appear fluffy and beautiful. New shavings. Next Saturday I'll dose with Ivermectin. Please no yelling at me for my over use of chemicals...this case of mites was extreme (I definitely won't be eating the eggs for a looong time). I wish we'd had time to start on tearing down the half torn down dilapidated runs, but the mites took precedence. Next weekend I'll start on tear down/rebuild. Did I mention the 3 inches of mud that had to be tromped through for 5 hours while doing this?? My legs got a workout! I did wear my mask though Sally, lol. I'm exhausted but I feel accomplished, A Good Day!
Where did your snow go? ours is still here! I was slip sliding on it dragging tarps full of shavins down to the dump pile! But I see you have mud like we have where we walk ha ha ha
Well, I'm convinced that as the snow melted every inch of it made it's way through my yard to form a lake around the coops, lol! My boot kept getting vacuum sucked into the mud and coming off of my foot while I was walking. Thank God, no tarps for me to drag. I fill contractor bags and Ray puts them on the back of the 4-Wheeler and dumps them up in the woods. This all especially sucked because I just cleaned my coops 2 weeks ago because they had gotten wet and soggy inside.:th I told Ray, I don't understand how I got this...I clean my coops a lot, I dust a lot...I clean out the nest boxes almost every day!!! WTHeck!
just shipped some eggs today

We also took advantage of the warner weather (40s) to do some barn spring cleaning yesterday. Mucked out the doe pen and prepped the kidding pen & supplies. Was going to tackle the coop today, but I think a recovery period is needed. :old Great packing job!

Great packing job!

It is 48 now with 80 for this afternoon. That is summer for most but for us that is the week before Spring Starts!

I will be mowing the lawn and other house work today along with pen cleaning. I think I will introduce my Pita Pinta boy to the girls today too.
