Quick question for you all. I have 2 eggs that have pipped at mid way down or lower. I have them in egg cartons to hatch upright but I'm worried that some may try to pip where the egg rests against the carton. Should I try to take them out and lay them down? It's only that 1 breed of eggs the other breeds in different cartons are pipping right. Help?

No, keep it in the carton. It will be fine.
I have had some pip too far down and lost them, thats why I wont use cartons for hatching ;)
Usually when that happens there was something wrong with the chicks anyway.

I do hatch on the side when I have to use the baskets but still prefer the cartons--I will not hatch shipped eggs on the side ever!

Quote: I decided to use the carton because these are shipped eggs and had damaged aircells upon arrival...I just don't want to lose them you know? Of this breed I received 12 and only 4 made it to lockdown.

I had a chick pip in the normal spot and then zip down in the middle of the egg.

Watch them though--they sound like they were not packed correctly for shipping.

I will def be keeping an eye. They were actually package very well but they also came USPS from California to West Virginia. About as long as a shipping distance as you can get while still being in the US. :/

I shipped some to the East Coast from California. The air cells were fine and not even a crack!

My eggs for the hatch a-long just arrived in the mail!!! I ordered 12 FBCM, 12 Langshan, and 12 Cream Legbar eggs from Chickengirl1304. She sent me extras which was so nice! All eggs look fine and I will candle tonight to check on the air cells. WHOO HOO!!!! I'm so excited about them!

I have so many staggered hatches for 2 weeks before Easter and then 1 week afterwards too!! but I will have at least 1 duck hatching on Saturday and then approximately 4 chicken eggs. depends on how many my girl lays! I refuse to hatch any more bantams or I'd throw those in too. all 31 of them!!! bantams lay more than my large fowl!!!

Good luck everyone im soooo excited!!!!!!!!

I enjoy drinking two cups of coffee every morning, which I usually drink after getting to the office. I'm not addicted to it. I don't have withdrawals or suffer headaches if I don't have it. No mood change after having coffee either.

My parents always had a pot of coffee on at the house while I was growing up. We were told that we could start drinking coffee at 13. None of us started drinking it until we were adults. I drink mine black and my next younger sibling drinks hers with cream.

I wish it were like that for me! Lucky dog

I got up to a pot of coffee before I saw a soul when I was in graduate school. I would be seriously headache ridden if I didn't have it in the morning. I mostly weaned off it anymore, but if I don't have at least the caffeine boost of a cup of coffee or a few cups tea first, I'm just not going to think straight. Guess it affects us all differently!
