Got all my paper work for NPIP .. All negative agian !!!!! Not that I was worried, I work hard to keep a healthy and clean flock. Teaching my boys how to do it also!

Question: Is there a way to provide heat to chicks without needing a heat lamp?

The smarty pants in me says a broody hen. There are heat plates too.

I went to the feed shed..heard all of this buzzing..knew what it was right away. I looked up into the cherry tree, and there they were..bees, going for the good stuff. Had to share some bee photos, so many have, thought I would too. I don't know how to keep the size larger when I go into the photo and look, it's so cute to see this first bee up close with it's little wings just a blur.



Can you see the bees? They were alll over. Loved it. Love this tree. We didn't get any cherries last year..or many apples. This year the cherry tree is doing well, but the apple trees aren't doing well again. :/ No blossoms at all!

It was so nice here today (except for the wind) that I went out to take photos of my chickens. I came back inside and had taken 298 photos! haha, here were a couple favorites though:

The incubator from hell strikes again. 93 degrees the other day and now over 110! Some how there are a few still moving in those eggs! I am soooo confused!

Ummm, I think it's time you bought a non-musical incubator. And wow, that humidity looks way too high. Condensation is bad with chicken eggs.

Well at least that simplifies things: coffee and staring at eggs all night. Couldn't possibly be bad for that 9am meeting tomorrow

I went out to get my mail today, and I heard buzzing, but they were big fuzzy bumblebees...
Here is one who landed and stayed put for a minute...


I don't mind them at all, unless they happen to be stinging me. I'm allergic...and each time I have been stung in the past few years, the reaction is worse...so I carry Benedryl in my purse now.

I love Bumble Bees, they are one cool looking bee.

I don't like wasps..I guess they are considered a bee? That's ok, I don't like them. Their sting really hurts. Got it right on a finger yr. before last as I picked up an apple off the ground, guess he thought that apple was his! Man that hurt for the longest time. I haven't been allergic of a bee or wasp sting yet. Knocking on wood! Have a daughter that is very very allergic. :/
Thank you for the compliment on the photos. It was pretty standing there looking up into that tree with the sky so blue today. And, watching those little workers, man, no wonder we have the saying, ... You are a little busy bee...
