Who can calm my nerves? I have 1 duck egg that is internally pipped. How long does the air cell last before they suffocate? I've lost so many that way, and I don't want to lose another one. Should I poke a small hole in it so it doesn't run out of air? How long between internal pip and pipping the shell? I've had a handful of successful duck hatches, but 3 times as many that didn't survive. I need reassurance! This is torture!

go ahead and make a small drill hole in the air cell! you dont need a big one! after that let them do their thing!

I'm incubating some black copper maran eggs. I candled them last night, but I' having a bit of a problem. I'm used to hatching out cream eggs which are so easy to candle and I'm always really confident on what I can or cant see. With the black copper maran eggs they are so dark they have left me really unsure! They are so dark I cant see any veins and I'm not sure if the dark part that i can see is the chick or just the yolk of the egg! . Any advise on candling really really dark eggs?

What you will be looking for is darkness that gets darker between candling. Glowing is usually a clear or not developing egg.
