The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I'm nervous as all get out. Sigh! My Call eggs are due to hatch on Wednesday, I think. I set them 1 day (23rd) early for Call Egg set. I am wondering when I will get a pip, and when I'm actually supposed to lockdown. I think Sunday? Everything says Calls hatch around day 24 but can take up to 3 days to hatch. So would the pip happen 3 days early or on the 24th day?? Half have small aircells because I kept the humidity high to control aircell growth on the wonky cells (which worked, I kept them from growing an amazingly small amount) but now I'm afraid for the small cell ones. GAWD! Did I mention I'm nervous!

I'm pretty sure that the call eggs are going to be the death of me......
Out of the 4 I set at the same time you set yours for the HAL, one didn't develop and the other three are still alive but sure are not normal looking. I think they will die soon.

The air cells remained large and weird, the blood network is very patchy and last night when I candled them, I could see some blood splotches.... I have 12 others incubating that all had bad air cells, but these first three were snowy calls from NC that I really wanted. The others are from central CA and from FL...sigh. I hope yours work out. I won't give up on trying my hardest for mine.

So some how the singing incubator from hell still has eggs in it with moving chicks! If what doesn't kill us makes us stronger than these are going to be super chicks I swear it! LOL

I had mentioned wonder husband got us something to cheer us up over the singing incubator from hell failure that we all keep thinking is certain. I had wanted to wait till I could get a photo and here it is:



4 little ducklings! We had not planned on taking on chickens and ducks in the first year but life is short and tomorrow isn't promised and such and squeee they are are adorable. We only had them out of the brooder for a little bit. We try to spend some quality time each day with the pets.

I promise the brooder doesn't sing to them and the heating is right! LOL

My 6 year old daughter actually slept right next to the brooder tonight. I can't promise that her and I don't sing to them. My son, the one on the left with the wild hero hair talks to them all the time, like he does the chickens. He is so sweet with them. Mostly though he tells them about minecraft..... not sure why they need to know about it but it bothers him greatly that minecraft does not have ducks, just chickens and I guess they need to know that?

Awww! Yaaa those are adorable- I'm so happy for you. I have a little duck envy- ducks are so cool but I can't have any right now (I need to buy a house with a huge barn and a pond!)
