Ok so I collect eggies and start on March 29 to incubate.

What other rules are there. My first time, sorry. Don't even know how many eggies am I supposed to incubate if there is a limit.

Welcome! Correct, we set chicken eggs on March 29th.

Rules, hmmmmm, let's see:

Have fun.
Join in the contests once they go up. (be sure to check the first post periodically, it will be updated as we progress)
Vote for contest winners, some contests will be open to voting.
Hatch as many or as little as you like. (Don't tell us now though, it's a secret.)
Once all eggs are set, take a picture to post and tell us the total number of eggs set in a post. Same with how many hatch. We'll be reminding everyone along the way.
Ask any questions.
And have fun! Wait, I said that already.

Pinwheel signing in for Easter!

I'm hoping to renew our annual Egg Dying Party at the farm this year, and I can't think of a better draw for families than getting to see newborn peeps!

And I thought poultry was interesting because of the dinosaur-like characteristics! Turtle have got them beat. You have taken hatching to a new level!!

Say what?

Why didn't you PM me? I'll see what I can find out.

Thanks so much for your donations of eggs!

Absolutely! We're happy to share!

On the prize, I can't remember if it was the Easter or NYD, but I contacted one of the mods a couple times...and Manna Pro. I gave up.

But I SO wanted that egg skelter above all other items!! *sigh*

It was fun just to have the close guess, though!

I forgot to say thanks!!! This is my first Hatch-a-Long! As a child, I always dreamt about getting little fluffy chicks for Easter. I lived in a neighborhood, and we were moving soon so no chickens for me. I actually never wanted the chickens part. Just the chicks. Sad, but true. After I moved to my new house, I was scared of chickens. My friend had 50+ and they would swarm me when I went in the run. She had rhode island reds with featherless backs and they made scary noises. I thought they'd attack me. She had big mean RIR roos too. After reading a Goosebumps book, I was inspired to hatch eggs for the science fair. Even though I was scared of chickens

. I hatched ten and kept 3. Two boys and a girl. The hen is the one in my sig.

Enough of my long, off topic story. I've just always dreamt about having little fuzzy easter chicks, and now I will

How interesting! Which Goosebumps, do you remember? My daughter loves those books, she has a zillion! She also is the one who does the serama here, she is working with the frizzle gene and the serama. Cute things they are too. She is a chicken addict, I try to keep her from kissing them! arrrrrgggg do you remember how many eggs you set for the fair? Did you make your incubator too? Little Sis will adore the chicks I am sure, and what a great surprise!

Quote: 60-90 ! wow thats alot of play! so do these box turtle eggs have the same sorta chalaza like a chicken egg? do you think that breaks and thats what kills the embryo? How interesting that all is! I still live in the blue mountains of PA and I havent seen a box turtle in years, but when we were kids we seen them all the time, heck we had made pets out of them, we had so many we couldnt keep them and marked them with nail polish and sent them away. Very cool, I would love to see your incubator set up for something like that, I will assume a humidifier or some other under layer water system? And pics of baby turtles!!!

Me too! Me too! I want to hatch some eggs from my two white leghorns.

I'm in! Hoping to set one March 2 and then reload for Easter :) Don't know what yet. Maybe some Brabanters and BBS Orps if I can nail them down.

I'm in! I have a new thermostat and a heating element for my Chestobator. I have time to do a test hatch from some local eggs to shake out the bugs. I have some Bantam Welsummer eggs coming, some polish already lined up. I am hoping to get either an order of Huastecs or an order of Breda.

Hi Penny Hen!

Huastecs? I had to look them up! and black boned! does that mean skinned as well like a silkie?

ChooksChick, I think you misunderstood about hugging the sheep! You have my permission to hug them if you can catch them! Grown sheep just aren't very cuddly. However, lambs are more huggable...as long as you have Mama's permission. BTW, we may be having lambs by Sheep Shearing Day (March 22)...Farrah is bagging up!

Sally Sunshine, we used to get my grandkids and friends' kids together in the barn the day before Easter to dye eggs. No worries about dye staining anyone's kitchen floor, and the kids had a blast! We did both regular "grocery store" and natural dyes with onion skins. But, grandkids turned into teens and everyone had other plans. Now, I have 7 year old and 2 year old grands...and a lot of neighbors with kids...and the farm is now registered as an Agritourism site (with Chicken World strictly off limits to visitors, for biosecurity reasons). So...why not invite everyone?
