The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I am working on converting a dishwasher. I am going to trick this one out. I am borrowing an idea from another BYCer of using a reptile humidifier to control the humidity precisely. That will add $60 to the cost but the precision that it provides is worth it. Won't have it done by Easter, maybe Cinco de Mayo
You have to share this project. I am very interested. I could use my existing dishwasher and it would not only give me a in incubator but a new dishwasher.

Perfect little chick pictures. Before owning chickens I thought all chicks looked the same. Oh brother.....over a year in and my head spins with all of the varieties. I am not only eyeballing Marrunda Basque but now South American chickens. It never ends....what about those Icelandics....they are looking very interesting as well.

They look like this as chicks:

The yellow chicks are EO marraduana Basque hens. The Chicks with black spots are Pita Pinta. The Pita Pinta parent flock is my Avatar picture.

I would use it as a root cellar first!!!

Many other options suitable for an incubator, but not for a root cellar. Just sayin'

A cooler bator and an LG hatcher keeps me in too many chicks-- just ask DH!!

I can set eggs 3 deep in the cooler bator and that's a lot of eggs. Just be sure to date w/ set date because oops I"ve missed a few and they hatch in the cooler bator!
Arielle I believe you had the cooler bator before I joined BYC. Do you have any pictures? So you set in that and hatch in the LG?

The Basque are what I am trying to acquire for the Easter Hatch. They are just gorgeous birds. Those Pita Pinta are adorable. I remember when you hatched some earlier last year. They are a Spanish breed as well?

I like the idea of the root cellar too.....

You all just don't want me to have any fun incubating a billion eggs at a time!!!
Doesn't matter. DH made a face and basically said 'no' about using it as an incubator. I presented the incubator idea first, at least that way the root cellar idea doesn't sound so crazy. hehehe

Yes, they are both calm Spanish Breeds and still heat hardy. They lay brown eggs too.
