My friend @Hayduke27 and I will be hatching eggs for the first time. Probably just a mix of what our flocks have to offer. Currently I have a bantam mille fleur rooster and easter egger hens. So we will just have to see what we get...

Awwww! Mine should be kiding (is that right?) in early April. They will be my first babies. Yours are precious!

Omg! I am hopelessly behind. There are like 50 more pages to read since I last was here.
I'm sorry to say I'm dropping out of the hatch-a-long. I had 2 mysterious deaths & several birds come down sick. I sent the dead ones to USC San Bernardino for necropsy & isolated the sick. Treating the whole flock with tetracycline as a precaution. Sick birds are getting Tylan. I feel awful.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have sick chickens!!!

How many days into incubation are they? It can be more difficult to see veining in blue and green eggs. You also need a really bright light.

Don't forget to get pictures of your poultry in the snow!

Barred Rock. A red male over a barred female makes black sex links.
I'll have to remember that. I don't have any red males currently, but I have several different breeds running around my yard, so anything is possible.

They are at 9 days today, although I think the temp was a little low at first, I bumped it up a little.
