Quick question for the genetics enthusiasts: if I used a barred rock roo over gold comets and rir, would the chicks be sexlinks? All but 2 of my new hatch have white dots on their heads.

THe reverse is required for sexlinks. Barred females and red or black males. SOrry.

Or maybe that is a good thing in this case , as anything with a white spot could be a girl or a boy, and same chance for the others without a white spot!!!

SO this is the father of the eggs that are about to hatch. I was just told yesterday that he decided to try to hatch some eggs on his own.
Awwwww, he went broody.

We had corned beef and cabbage for lunch yesterday and it was so good! Anyone have any special traditions for St. Patty's?
Last year I did Irish stew and Irish soda bread. Maybe I'll do the soda bread, but it snuck up on me this year, so nothing planned.

Do emus really eat all the flys around and in the pens. It would be worth getting two if they do.
Nope. Would you want to eat a fly?

Welcome to you too!
Check out my broody coop in progress:

Our weather comes from the North and the West so most of the ventilation will originate on the East and South

I keep telling the girls they have to show me the money to get to move into it but so far all I have had has been a bit of breast plucking and some extended ...3 hour sitting. So far the one who seems most likely to lead lead broody fever is a mutt named Norma. Mama is an Australorp, Dad was a barnyard mix ??? we think part American Game

This was her last fall

I hope you get good use of it!

I want to join!
Welcome!

I just got a pack of chicken bones sent from KY!

I wonder WHO could have sent me them!

Do tell, who?

I'm beginning to think that my guess in the number of eggs contest for this hatch along might have been too small.

This hatch along is a big deal!
Yes it is!

Nope, you need the hen to be barred for sex links.

Okay my gusss is 5,000 eggs!
Please enter your guess in the Contest thread. See post #1 for links to the contests.

OK enablers. I am still hunting down eggs for the hatch a long... there never seem to be much in the way of bantam eggs on the BST pages. Anyone know someone with modern game bantams, belgian D'Anvers, japanese, dutch, or old english eggs for sale? I have found some, but not in time for the 29th. Worse case scenario I will use my CCLegbar roo over my layers and make some sex-linked easter eggers (or easter leggers).
