The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Today is day 14 for my pre-hatch a long hatch. Candling again tonight to check air sac growth to make sure I've got the right amount of humidity. I have been doing it differently than in the past and want to make sure I've not been overdoing it or under doing it. And to see that we are still having good progress with embryo growth. Things have been very steady temp and humidity wise this hatch thanks to my new meters and putting them in the side room where no one gets near the 'bator except me. I've been turning by hand since I wanted to pack it full up which has been a bit of a challenge, but I think I've been doing okay remembering. Lockdown is Sunday. That means this weekend is cleaning the coop, cleaning the shed and setting up brooders. Might have to run out to the store to get a couple more thermos - can't find all the brooder thermos from last year.

Normally I use an auto turner and the wells in the bottom for water. But it limits my hatching. So I took out the turner, put water in a small mason jar in one corner and got some new thermometers (and placed the 'bator back in a side room instead of out in the dining area of the kitchen so it can't be disturbed like during my last hatch where it was unplugged by someone who didn't think before doing). Turning by hand is new for me, as is hatching more than 40 eggs at a time.

there's still 61 in there of my original 70. Might be fewer after tonight's candle though.

Here you go! A quick screen shot until the nice pictures are posted by @Corny Caleb

What a cutie! I missed a couple days and was 50 pages behind! Good grief! Waded through about a dozen pages before duty called

Supper waits for no man or in my case, 4 children don't wait for supper!

Very excited as I should have BBS Orps, GLW and EE's to set next week.

I bet you will have a very good hatch!

Those are good changes to make.
