When I run the hatch video I do not cheep at the eggs. I do not want anyone to think I am not all there....oh too late I suppose.....

You know when I finally get a broody hen I plan to record her talking to the eggs and rig a sound loop that can be played to the chicks in the incubator when I am at work or building brooders at the last minute for the eggs that are about to hatch or the pens that the chicks will need in 4 weeks.

So, it turns out the polish chrysanthemum breeder is actually also a member of BYC! I also asked if they would have more of them available and right now they do not. Going to take pictures of the chicks now.

Oh man! I would love some of those too!! Let the seller know there's a market!!

My only non shipped homebred this time around. My EE bantams first egg/chick!
Also have 2 pipped silkies and 3 pipped ams. Im worried about one of the ams though. She looks to have hit a vein.

Hopefully not a big one.
Yay! Hopefully the other one is fine.

I have a strong a feeling that we are going to hit over 300 hatchers by the set date for chicken eggs

P.S. I think I might enter a couple of those photo contest on this thread

I hope we break 300! And you should enter some of the contests!

Polish Chrysanthemums!

Shakira- blue and white,

Allison- possible blue splash

I know they maybe roosters so they may become Shak and Al, but this what my wife named them for now

They look a lot like baby showgirls right now, I will update as their feathers come in.
Look at that cotton ball top on that first one! Okay, I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that the first is a female and the 2nd a male. (based on a full crest and a less full crest) Let me know if I'm right!

Just joined and was looking around run across this article I have some quail eggs I was going to do on the 2nd im going to move that up and put them in on the first at noon see how it goes
Welcome!

I just purchased a dozen crested cream legbar eggs! The seller even said she'd throw in some EE eggs because she had too many. Eeeeee so excited!!
Good score!

So it looks like I may have more eggs than I expected for the hatch.... have to figure out what to o with them all....
Stack them of course! Oh, wait, you mean after they hatch? Well don't worry about that because 1/2 won't hatch, then 1/2 of those will be males, so you really don't have that many.

This is me today, because I have a bunchload of Rhodebars with extra B/BCMs on the way----->

Hope they arrive safely!

Ok, a lot of you are going to think I'm the crazy one..but I'm not sure here.

With all of this talk about about coffee..whew...it sounds addicting! As much as hatching..lol.!

I used to drink coffee once in a while while I worked at restaurants, but not much. I think I am glad I didn't get "hooked" on it though, from the sounds of it here. Really? People need coffee to be themselves?
idunno.gif
Also tried the smoking thing back in the 70's...soooo glad I didn't like that!
I enjoy my coffee in the morning, but I don't get headaches if I quit. I just enjoy my peaceful morning with my coffee. I don't drink soda at all, so my coffee (and tea) are the extent of my caffeine intake. It affects everyone differently. I can have a cup of tea at night and go right to bed without any problems.

Just picked up two boxes of hatching eggs from the post office! Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.

I only ordered 15, but they were accidentally sent a few days earlier than we agreed, so he sent another batch... They both arrived today, and there were 5 extra in the first box! So...35 instead of 15 - it's like New Year's all over again!

The eggs were fabulously packed - each egg individually bubble wrapped. And all eggs are intact. I'll candle tonight to check air cells. And I think I'll set a couple days early to give the first batch sent a better chance.

Quick question for you all. I have 2 eggs that have pipped at mid way down or lower. I have them in egg cartons to hatch upright but I'm worried that some may try to pip where the egg rests against the carton. Should I try to take them out and lay them down? It's only that 1 breed of eggs the other breeds in different cartons are pipping right. Help?
If you can see the pip, it will be fine. I too have had better hatch rates using cartons, and use them for almost all of my hatches. (excluding broodies)
Got my calls in Mon and the turkeys & anconas went in Sat. Chicks are going in tomorrow so they hatch in time to tutor the poults.

My eggs for the hatch a-long just arrived in the mail!!! I ordered 12 FBCM, 12 Langshan, and 12 Cream Legbar eggs from Chickengirl1304. She sent me extras which was so nice! All eggs look fine and I will candle tonight to check on the air cells. WHOO HOO!!!! I'm so excited about them!

Yay!

I have so many staggered hatches for 2 weeks before Easter and then 1 week afterwards too!! but I will have at least 1 duck hatching on Saturday and then approximately 4 chicken eggs. depends on how many my girl lays! I refuse to hatch any more bantams or I'd throw those in too. all 31 of them!!! bantams lay more than my large fowl!!!

Good luck everyone im soooo excited!!!!!!!!

I'm excited too!

Im bummed my eggs didn't arrive today
sad.png
Hopefully tomorrow.
I hope they arrive soon!

Can't wait to set eggs this weekend! Getting my incubator cleaned out and ready to go. Only had 1 chick hatch from my first group of eggs. Hopefully this one will be much better.

My first little EE baby!
Look at those puffy cheeks!

Quote: No, you don't need a tetanus vaccine. Just wash the area with soap and water, and it will be fine. I've been bitten many times by broodies.

I will be taking part with coturnix eggs

Welcome!

I just got three different packages of eggs for the hatch a long... should be at least two more arriving tomorrow or the next day. Not telling numbers since the guessing is still open(?) but I am pretty excited.

As I'm reading the posts, I think you are right..affects people different.

And who said they like theirs black..I liked mine with the cream..and sugar. Of course, nice and fattening. :/

Ok..we are getting dumped on ..rain that is..what's it doing in your neck of the woods?
rain-on-a-sunny-day.jpg
Great picture of the rain! We got a heck of a thunderstorm last night. Of course I was driving on the freeway at the time too. Everybody had to put their flashers on, you couldn't see a thing.

My soon to be silkie's eggs are on day 19!!!!! I am hoping to be able to share baby pics sooooon!

Decided to save bantam eggs for one of my broodies. The are from a pen with a silkie roo and two MF D'Uccle girls. I am hoping eventually to have silkied D'Uccles but this first go round I am just hoping for a mix of healthy boys and girls.

So happy I get to play along and so grateful to Ron for the digest! Thanks Happy Chooks for hosting the HAL. These are always such fun and upbeat threads!

Hopefully I will get another broody in time for the Cinco de Mayo HAL. I am a greedy woman!
