Ughhh!!! Last night I noticed the humidity gauge was too low. I added some water still not moving so put more in and went to bed. This am it was still at 20% So decided to try the humidity guage from the nest incubator. ..it read 60% I hope they will be ok???????? There were a few viable ones that were definitely growing. They are on day #8... :'(

They will be fine. Wait until the humidity goes down below 30 and add less next time.

Foam holds the moisture in, so a bit spilled will make it go up for a day or two.

MontanaDolphin - I have also successfully hatched a repaired egg. Mine cracked at the seven day candling - my fault - I was so upset, because it was a roo/hen combination that I really wanted. I sealed it with candle wax, making sure I covered the whole crack. The egg hatched and the chick didn't need any help at all. So give it a try - you have nothing to lose (well, a little time and a little space in your bator, but that's all). Good Luck.

thanks! Never even occurred to me the guage could have been broken.

I have repaired broken macaw eggs and they hatched. I used fingernail polish. These eggs were pretty fresh though. I think the biggest problem with repairs is if bacteria has had a chance to enter.

What are you waiting for? Christmas hatchalong ??????

They are set ..Silly Sally.

For those of you who have repaired cracked eggs and successfully hatched, have you compared different methods? If so, which is the best to use? I've seen nail polish, candle wax and liquid skin. Has anyone tried all 3 and have a preference?

Didn't think I would be able to join as I already have my incubator full but I have worked out a way to free up space for 6 eggs. So I will be collecting from my green egg layers and will join you in setting tomorrow

This is so correct but hard to do!

I have to

every once in a while to keep from candling too much....Remember to use your nose though and for the first couple of weeks watch for seeping eggs.
Ron, just because I don't touch them doesn't mean I'm not hovering

I will certainly be checking for seepage on these Turkey eggs. I forgot to pre-candle for cracks!
