Congratulations on all of the chicks coming right now! I have some silkie eggs in lock down. Crossing fingers with them. What's up with quitters during lock down on those little ones?

Oh and remember how my brinsea spot check arrived broken? well I wrote to them immediately and also let them know that my incubator disinfectant was not in the package they sent, and I hadn't heard from them since, well I got an email about an hour ago that said they would send a new one asap. So i go get my mail and there it is along with the disinfectant lol, I guess they sent it the same day i wrote to them and only now got around to emailing me. unfortunately the new spot check was doing some weird stuff (saying too cold to register, then too hot in about the space of 10 seconds, while in my armpit lol, then saying my incubator was 108 which is not possible since I literally just hatched those breda chicks in it.) I turned it off, and then back on- and put it, the other broken spot check, and the glass thermometer all in my Rcom50 which has its own digital thermometer and I will check in an hour to see what the consensus is.

They seem to be having problems of late, and probably swamped now that it's hatching season. I also emailed them about my spot check not working and haven't heard back.

Maybe a new one will just show up in the mail?

hi there here are some arubian jungle fowl black, brown and a speckled
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

OK there are 87 in the Styrofoam bator pile up:

And 10 under 3 broody hens....well they are stealing them back and forth form each other. LOL
Thanks for the count!

Cuteness alert!

There are 2 pics each of the first two kittens. The last one is all dark gray so one pic pretty much shows you what it looks like. The kitten in the middle is the only female.
They are adorable.

Cute kitty!

My temp spike was 102.9...

If your thermometer is accurate, that's not high enough to cause deaths. They'll just hatch early.

Quote: Agreed!

I just looked at a couple of mine, but I could only really see in one of the green ones... Are those veins near the light?

And I hate to sound really ignorant, especially after I've read so much, but the air sac should be a small circle at the big end, and the dark part should be on the side? Some of the ones I looked at seemed to float around some...
Yep, that's veining. And yes, the yolk will move around when you roll the egg to candle.

It will take a while to register the temperature. I keep mine with the probe in the air hole of the incubator, and the body on the top of the incubator. Then when I want to check temperature, I touch the button and it comes on and registers the temperature.

My breda fowl hatched yesterday, well three yesterday and one this morning (new one is still damp so he isn't in the photo). they are soooo cute! and very interactive- when i put my hand in the brooder they all race over to inspect it haha. now I just have one welsh harlequin duck egg, and 7 norwegian jaerhon eggs hatching this weekend and then nothing hatching until easter. that seems crazy lol usually I have something hatching at least once a week.

So far my temp under pit is this.... (DH bought a battery and cleaned the hole out a few minutes ago, checking in bator now)
HOWEVER I thought under the arm temps are a degree low???

CALLING ALL NURSES??

You're not the only one that hasn't heard back! My friend Heather (@Bhmathews ) wrote them about her bad spot check only days after I did and she hasn't heard back either :-/ Sounds like they're probably getting a lot of spot check emails. I have a new spot check due to arrive soon also. I hope it's better than the last one I rec'd.

Yes, they are! 1* lower for auxiliary temps! My spot check said 97.6 when I did arm pit....

Yep, a degree low is normal there. More accurate in the mouth or ummmmmm, you know.
