Vacation? Did someone say Vacation? What is that? Vaguely sounds familiar. ??
Vacation is that time you take out of the year to build more incubators, brooders, grow out pens, and coops. A good vacation is when you supervise others doing those things!

Silly, forgetting something important like that!

lol that's my kind of vacation. DH doesn't like "vacation" anymore lol.

I just cancelled mine. They were set Monday at 2 pm. All 10 have spiders!!!!

I also just found that the last bantam to hatch has 5 toes!!!!

Very Exciting! Congrats on all your eggs doing well. And your Bantam chick must be sooooo cute, 5 toes so its probably part Silkie :)

It is super cute in fact all 4 of the bantams are. One has feathers on all 4 toes.

Here are 3 of them in their brooder box. The front is Zeo the fully feathered one. Then the black looks just like one that was posted yesterday. It's middle toes are pink and then the yellow hatched from a green egg. It's clean legged.

So tired.... dismantled and destroyed the transmission from our old Expodition today. Forgot how fast sludge hammer will wear you out. My back is killing me right now.. Took the sorted metals in for recycling, got over $90. for it. Not to bad for a days work... Finally able to sit down and relax for a little while.. Almost falling asleep here. Lol

Oh, for any in my neck of the woods, if you didn't hear from the news yet, the dog wordens are supposedly going door to door to make sure you have your liscense. I have not seen anyone but when I stopped in at Agway this afternoon they said they sold over 100 licenses today. I (ahem) was one of those... lol don't know why im always forget to get that...

Stay safe in the storms!

Prayers for the family...

Congratulations on the new kittens!

Hope everyone else had and has a good rest of the day! :)

Ditto on the dog license - yesterday!

I have been wondering if the chicks hatched after day 22 were usually culled, weak or unhealthy?
There are too many variable with just the date of hatch to cull for that. It is best to cull for vigor and deformities.

Some chicks that hatch late, defined as after the others hatch, will be ones that you do not want to breed from because of their condition.

If you were to cull by day 22, almost no one would have Marans.

X2

In nature, a hen could very easily hatch perfectly healthy chicks late. The ambient temperature could have been low or she got off the nest more frequently the first few days.
