I have my first 2 BLRWs eggs on day 21 they are rockin around, cant wait til they hatch.

My first two are in the Easter HAL.

oh dear....I have been so careful with all my shipped, damaged air cell eggs. They are all upright and I didn't turn them for the first several days. Then only started slightly rocking them in the cartons three times a day. It sounds like they will all be stuck now. I had a bunch in a styrobator with a turner. I turned the turner on at 5 days and just figured out that it isn't turning. So those went 7 days without turning

No they wont

Focus on Temperature--get a very accurate thermometer
Make sure humidity is correct--usually 35 to 45%
Incubate and hatch with the vents open.

I for one will be watching your hatch closely.

Skipped nearly 1000 posts getting on this evening. Skimmed the digest and said, let's just move on.

Sold all but my most favorite chick from my March 25 hatch today. Which means we get to stop at Tractor Supply on the way home from the in-laws tomorrow and pick out some friends for my fav chick

And selling them all in a week and a half convinced DH that it might be a good idea to get a second 'bator to use as a dedicated hatcher, and that hatching a whole bunch over the remainder of the spring is also a good idea. I am more than excited. Starting to collect eggs from my blue/green layers to fill in spots when I candle and remove clears of the d'Uccles in the 'bator right now.

Side note, anyone have good luck treating wry neck? My favorite chick also turns out to be a stargazer. I have been giving Sav-A-chick since day one to make sure none of the chicks got dehydrated and had good vitamin load. Had one chick sold to a local family that also had this issue. I'm thinking it came from the flock being so cooped up with the long winter and not getting grass or bugs really yet. I'm going to add vitamins to the water of the flock to supplement and started vitamin E on my chick, but I'm a little worried about whether this will reverse or if it will become life threatening.

Sorry if this has been asked.. But has anyone had good hatches by continuing turning up to hatch day or the day before? I've heard hatching out chicks with the eggs still in the turner.

I have had chicks, Ducks and Guineas hatch on the turner. A trick is to wait until you see the first pip to turn off the egg turner and move them to or set up the hatcher for lockdown.

Turning is not necessary after day 18 but does not hurt them.

No, but I have only had one. My chicks usually hatch out healthy.

From what I have read about it, give them Poly Vi Sol, a drop or two twice a day from hatch to day three. Sometimes it is a vitamin deficiency and some times it is a hatch injury or a deformity. If it does not get better in three days, it usually will not get better--or so the articles say. I culled this one after three days.

We are breeding for vigor because SG Dorkings are having hatch-ability issues. They have been having them for several years. Culling for hatch a bility started last year. So far this year we have been hatching eggs from two year old hens. Hen W33 is the only SG Dorking Hen that has had good hatches(lots of clears and some mid death with the other Hens). For the hatch that I just finished, Her daughter, pullet 048 had one egg set and it hatched. That pullet is at 100% now.
