I candled my 41 runner duck eggs for the HAL...only 1 clear...the other 40 are growing!!!! 9 of 12 meat eggs and at least 4 guinea eggs are also developing!!!

checking back in. been out for a couple of days working long shifts. Plan to candle tonight before I head to work and see how things are going. Hoping to post some pictures but we will see if time permits. Based on the notes and observations I have so far everything seems to be going good. Temp has stayed right around 100 with no more than a 1.5 degree swing either direction and humidity stabilized right around 30% until yesterday when I pulled the tape of ventilation holes (day 10). It dropped to around 10% at that point and has been slowly climbing back up but is currently only up to 17%. Plan to add some water in a channel at a time to bring it up for now and then when I go in lockdown I plan to use the sponge in jar method. Does that sound ok(not sure I can fit anything else in there with the autoturner). seems fairly cramped.

So I set eggs on Sat and then left on Mon was gone for a week so returned very excited to candle my eggs. I candled last night on day 8. I had 2 clears of the 10 LF eggs under Norma and every one of the 8 bantam eggs under Petunia were developing so both girls now have 8.

I won't look in them again until a week from Tuesday

that all 16 keep on growing!

I used to keep a tab open each spring to watch this. Now, I can't stomach turning it on. Bad reminder that the raptors are hungry. We have 2 pairs that nest in the woods across the street.
