OK...I apparently wasn't thinking clearly when I 'accidentally' dropped more eggs into the bator on day 7.

So if I am in lockdown, is it ok to keep turning my Octagon every 12 hours for those ones, or should I leave it level and open the bator to turn only the newer ones...of course adding more humidity when I open it? If there are pips, I know not to turn them. But until then? (I keep them upright with the metal bars in during hatching).
BTW, I have 12 Rhodebars and 3 blue and/or black copper Marans of 31 I set ready to hatch this weekend!

You guys see we should have done a video contest!!
But instead of the Clucking hen n Cockledooing Rooster contest, we should have had a chick chirping or bator talking video contest!! HA HA HA

Who would be game?  oh the embarrassment and shame of it all!!
I would soooo set up my husband on hidden cam and tape him! muwahhahhaha

LOL now that would be entertainment!!

You have to try and do what's best for both hatches. Or decide which one is more important.

I would hold off increasing humidity until the last minute. I (controversial) would also keep turning as the second batch aren't 14 days.

At first pip, up humidity and turn off the Turner.

Pray the hatch is not too staggered and get the hatched chicks out as fast as you can.

Dry the Bator and carry on the same technique for second batch - sans extra turn time

Ducks pipping!

Chicks and turkeys aren't doing anything yet.

I opened the vent, because I think some of my ducks suffocated in my last hatch. They were doing fine going into lockdown but didn't hatch.

The chicks internally pip and learn how to breath.

Then the panic sets in as the carbon dioxide rises and oxygen is depleted.

This causes the external pip.

The exhausted chick then recovers, yolk sack is abdorbed and external vasculsture collspses as it takes in good air.

Lack of ventilation as this stage is lethal

I noticed the small vent holes on the bottom of the incubator and put wood blocks under all four corners
