Fox: Dry paper towels. Wiping up condensation.

For your hatcher, maybe pine shavings? But I would be concerned with the light so low over them. Maybe dried herp moss? Baked in the oven first to make sure it's free of bugs.

Oh and I just got my last pip! 5 out of 5 BSLW chicks have pipped!!

Is this stuff hanging off the chick okay? It's my second to hatch and I didn't notice it on the first one. 2 done, and a bunch more pips!

I'm just catching up, but it's probably gotten shriveled up by now..will fall off..looks great! :)

I spread the rice out and it's wishing slowly. I thought I may have to poor pine on top. I just don't want the babies to eat them. I have also been wiping any condensation. Even at the risk of burning my arm on the light.

Close call!! I forgot to lockdown yesterday and woke up to 3 pips in 35% humidity! And a surprise pip from an egg I almost threw out (but it's a Marans so I knew better lol) so hopefully the short low humidity with those pips didn't hurt anything. The membrane still looked white so fingers crossed for a perfect hatch!

Good luck everyone!!!

Does this say anything about humidity? I am pretty sure mine was too high. And, my temps too high in the very beginning. My room temp changes during the day so often at this time of year. Should have put my bators somewhere else at this time of yr.

I have eggs both in the incubator and broody. So far I've got one egg thats hatching in the incubator but not a peep from the eggs under my hen.

What is the general opinion - are hatch rates better with a broody or bator?

AND AFTERNOON! IT'S ALMOST NOON, BUT HAD TO POST THIS, HOPE EVERYONE IS ENJOYING THEIR NEW BABIES, NEW PIPS, AND THOSE THAT DON'T HAVE ANYTHING YET...JUST THINK, YOU MAY BE THE FIRST TO HAVE ONE HATCH ON SAT!

Oh Jen, she looks good! I would put her in and see how she does. If she isn't drinking on her own yet, she will learn from the others. If she moves out of their way now when they come around, go for it. Just watch them together for a while and see how it goes. What a difference. I think I would stop the electrolytes now.

That one wasnt her. That was one jumping out to get to her box but she looks like that now. just still smaller. Her buddies are taking care of her and still giving her electrolytes every couple hours. She was at the waterer last time I looked but didnt see her drinking. Now every time she sees me she runs over and opens her mouth. Silly chicken
