im experimenting now with just plain old WASHED eggs vs UNWASHED eggs.....candeled them and the washed eggs are winning by a landslide

@clawstar how did you wash them? Just in plain water? What temp? How long etc? I'm sorry if you posted that info before. This will be my first hatch and was debating on to wash or not wash. Thanks!

Really? Already?!

That's tomorrow, so you can do like we do..set them ahead before bedtime. :D I guess most do ~

Well I've debated back and forth about joining the HAL and I had a long list of reasons for why I shouldn't...but I'M IN!!!

Not sure what I'm putting in the 'bator yet, but I'm in and will decide quickly. I had so much fun in the NYD HAL...I'm so looking forward to this!!!

Now to catch up on everyone's posts to see what exciting chicks are going to be hatching...

The tom and the hen are blue palm turkeys. The issue is that only 50% of the poults will grow up with the blue coloring. I still need to google images of the various palm poults to determine what the blue ones look like compared to the royal.

My aunt just returned from Vietnam and brought me some postcards that reminded her of me. Haha. It's amazing what the Vietnamese can fit in those bikes! I feel bad for all these chickens, though. This takes the "how many square feet per chicken" debate to a whole new level!
I can only imagine the smell.

Hello All! We are trying out our DIY incubator this year hatching some Rhode Island Reds and Red Star/Island crosses. Wish us luck!

Good Luck! What kind of incubator did you make?

Can someone with a Brinsea Octagon 20 please tell me where the serial number is on it? I got mine a couple weeks ago and now I'm trying to register it, but I can't find the SN on it. Thanks. :)

unscrew the place on the top where you adjust the temperature and put the plug. It is right under there. I couldnt find it either.
