yep they are great predators of aphids and other pests in the garden

They are a predator of ALL bugs in the garden - including some other good bugs you might want to have around. :)

I used to be afraid of all the roosters I would end up with also it made me nervous to hatch and then get stuck with so many that I wouldn't know what to do. Now the thought barely bothers me. We raise our extra males up to put in the freezer to feed out family. What ever we don't happen to process I have never had any problems selling the extras off. Ive never had to give them away for free, people want roosters more than most people think.
very true the stew pot is a good option I seen it somewhere the day the incubation should start I just cant find it again sometime in March

March 14th is set day!

The very first post on page one of this thread has all the info needed for this hatch a long. Post num 1 is where all the info is shared and will be updated along the way, including the links to all the contests as they open up for participation. There is also useful links added to post 1 also.

Everyone remember to look back at post 1 often to see if there are any updates added.

I want to join!! I will be hatching as many BBS and Jubilee English Orps as possible from my birds!! I am hoping to fill at LEAST one of my 42 egg bators!

ok ty I think I'll do some silkies I have lots of room in my heart for them if silkies are on the list to be ok to do

Yes Silkies are GREAT!!! I have a few Silkies, blue and splash. My Splash Silkie hen just hatched out a splash baby on New Years Day.

I have a very little chance any of my brodies will be ready in time, I likely will buy an incubator and use another small one

I have never tested it, but in last years forum for the Easter Hatch, a member showed how to create a broody using a square of aluminum foil above the nest box. It takes a couple of weeks or so, but it raises the hormones that tell them to go broody.
I've been afraid to try it, because I don't want a dozen Broodies all at once! :p
