I have a very little chance any of my brodies will be ready in time, I likely will buy an incubator and use another small one

I have never tested it, but in last years forum for the Easter Hatch, a member showed how to create a broody using a square of aluminum foil above the nest box. It takes a couple of weeks or so, but it raises the hormones that tell them to go broody.
I've been afraid to try it, because I don't want a dozen Broodies all at once! :p

I wonder if that actually works?

ETA: I wonder because I have hens that have never gone broody and they're upwards of 4 years old.

I currently have my first eggs in the incubator. I will join with another batch of Ameraucanas and Ameraucana/Red Layer mixes. I am very new to the whole chicken thing, but I love it!!!!!

I have used the same 'bator with great results.  Have some in now that are thriving despite kids unplugging the extension cord....SMH

Ya we'll mine is a 20 year old little giant styrofoam bator and has no windows that I have to put tin foil over and there's a bug crack in the back that I put foil around also it keeps temp but I have a bunch of orders and needed another bator just in case plus I can hatch more now
