Just got the call from the post office my eggs from ladycat are here!!!!! Now it's time to play sick at work so I can go get them lol.

So sick you need to say home till Monday!

We are having a LOVELY pre-Spring thaw right now!

40's & 50's with lots of Sunshine! Melting snow and sloppy mud everywhere! Unfortunately the warmer temps are bringing out predators - a nasty coon managed to open a spring latch on my Plymouth Rock coop night before last, and killed one of my Blue Rock pullets!!!

Thankfully it was not one of my favorite ones, but still!!

So my brother set a live trap in front of the coop last night and we CAUGHT the varmint and shot him!! My poor chickie is avenged!

We will definitely be keeping a closer watch out there now.

Oh boy! So sorry for your lose, and so happy you caught it. Remember where there is one raccoon there is likely many so maybe even keep that trap set nightly for a while.

Sorry for your loss but happy you got the culprit!! This is the time of the year when I'm most watchful for hungry varmints. The melting snow and warm temps have everything on the move.

I was wondering, what do people raise the Bob Whites for? I lived in Southern Missouri as a kid, and I love that Bob White whistle. So much so, that's the sound I have trained my dog to come too. I can't imagine how much he would lose his mind if I took him down there with me when I visit and he heard them.... I have played audio from the internet a few times and he freaks out because he can't figure out who is whistling at him.

Hi was wondering why the duck eggs that are in my bator are not as developed as the ones under my broody. I set in the bator the day before my hen went broody. Its a chicken setting on the eggs.

Likely the temps in your bator are too low.
