if a bantam is a half what is a turkey egg counted as?
Turkeys don't count. You can have as many of them as you want!!!!

I keep getting asked by my hubby and roommate what happens if all 40 eggs hatch. I have to keep telling them

1) I set 48 eggs
b) Haven't you ever heard "Don't count your chickens before they've hatched"

but I am really only one chicken short of the 20 chicken limit I set for myself, but some of those are silkies and frizzles, so they don't really count as a full "one," do they?!
If they are silkies, I heard someone describe them as Japanese ground parrots so they don't count as chickens at all.

thanks giving dinner!

Too funny!

I ordered a spot check thermometer from incubator warehouse. I was gonna get the brinsea, but their shipping was $10 and incubator warehouse was only $2. hopefully this one will work good too. I've seen lots of people using them. I'm usually not a bator stalker, but I have been on Spring break this week and I feel like I am looking in those darn things every 5 minutes.

I try not to open them though, but today I noticed that my humidity was in the low 20's so I put a little water in and then it went up to over 60%,

sucked all the water out and put in some rice so hoping it stabilizes soon. I think it's better for my poor eggs when I am not home so much.

A lot of times it will stabilize on its own to a more reasonable level in an hour or so. My Brinsea hits about 65% and stabilizes at 40%, my coolerbator hits around the same but stabilizes at around 51%

I have had the same issue, humidity keeps reading 20% and when I add water, it goes right to 60%. I figure it will even out mathematically...... Or at least I hope so...
I'm going to try running a humidifier in the room itself next.

So there is a polish chick (we believe it was an extra added to the shipment) at work that walks around like its drunk. I'm wondering if it's blind. I have been making sure it makes it to water every so often. Really tempted to take it home and baby it, but of course I will have to bring a friend so it has company and a friend for its friend in case it doesn't make it. My husband may shoot me if I do it though. Lol. I feel sorry for it though! Lol

We had a blind quail cot - only rudimentary eye development. We named him Blind Melon Quailun. He was actually quite good at finding food and water. He just followed the sound of the other babies!
