The only purpose of the list is to track the eggs that will count in the guess the number set/ guess the number to hatch contests. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in the thread and the contests.

Thank you!

I used mini loaf silicone molds and the mold works great but the size is not quite what I wanted. The bars came out a bit small. Then I tried a silicone loaf mold and while it worked, the loaf was wider at the top than the bottom, longer too but that was not as noticeable. The long wooden molds with silicone liners might be best but they just cost so much the shaped soaps might be better for gifting so I'm leaning to bakeware on Amazon. I found a snowflake pan/mold last night that I'm really considering.

I too have been looking for a good mold. I prefer rectangular bars - no particular reason why, I just do. I bit the bullet and bought this one with the silicone insert.

Now that I bought it, it will make me make some soap and practice.

please make a batch and let us know what you think of it.

Next soaping question:
I got my last batch of lye from Amazon and it was Essential Depot. Is that the best place to get lye? I had someone tell me to get it from Duda but I'm not sure I want to get 50 pounds of it. And I'm going to come off as a bit of a prude, but I don't even like their label. I would end up painting it or covering the entire label with stickers of some sort.

Well, I did my first complete candle tonight - middle of Day 7 for me. I am pretty pleased with the results so far! Out of the 32 eggs from my backyard flocks, only 5 look like probable clears, the rest have VERY healthy embryos swimming around in there!!!

On the 18 shipped Ameraucana eggs, the results were not as good,

but there is still a significant number that have strong looking veins, and a couple others that might just be late starters... I am hopeful that there might be 10 or possibly even more viable embryos in the bunch, but I left them all in for now. Keep growing little chickies!!!

Onward to WEEK 2 of incubation...

I just found this today, I started my eggs on the 17th so I understand if its too late to join. Im putting in these mixed eggs, Light brahma/araucana, araucana/araucana, and one araucana/polish mix. This is my first hatch, from my first chickens, and my rooster Mr. Smith, just last year he was torn apart by a bear, hes healed and in just a few weeks he will be a first time daddy!
