Here are my totals:
set = 112
Hatch= 73
Non-fertile= 31
Fertile non-hatched= 8

So if my figures are right I have
72% fertility rate
And
65% hatch rate

25 out of 30 hatched so far. These are my mille fleur bantams. The one in the second photo has muffs because mom's a d'Uccle. Dad's a mille fleur booted bantam though so about half have the muffs and half don't. They're all adorable.

Four baby Seramas out and 4 more to go on this hatch! I have 11 from yesterday and still have some under a Broody that is due today or tomorrow! Not too bad for Seramas.

Oops I should be ashamed of myself. Went in to check in the hatching I heard chicks peeping on the wrong shelf. rocking back and forth I forgot about the cochin bantams I set. There was 10 or so in there enjoy the ride I guess. It is funny because they were set the same time the other s were set. I would thought them would have hatched first....
Of I raise the lid on the hatcher the 1/2 inch I could raise without interfering with the turners action. Chicks love that extra 1/2 inch for head room.
Anybody local need cochin bantams. make excellent pets...
Off to tractor supply for chicken food...Happy Hatching

Wondering if my fellow BYC'ers will do me a favor in between checking for hatchlings, pipers and zippers and posting their progresses on here. That would be wishing my mother-in-law a warm welcome. She finally convinced her husband to build her a coop and she is leaving my house with chickens to start her flock. Her avitar is the coop he built for her, it's pretty awesome. Her username is Nanachicks.
Thank you'all in advance!

@Nanachicks Welcome to the group!

I would say without a fan you should absolutely keep BOTH holes open in a foam style incubator.

Even with my fan I keep both open for the duration.
Ok, I have an egg that pipped about 18 hrs ago and then made the whole bigger 6 hrs ago. 2 hrs ago, it seemed like it had started zipping but nothing is happening. It cheeps, responds to knocks on the incubator but not making any effort to zip. At what point shall I help?
I play a youtube video of "one day old chicks chirping" at the bator when they stop zipping and that gets them going. Honestly-it works for me.

I'm one of those that takes the chick out when it hatches. If another hatches not long after, out it comes. I don't see a problem with the humidity going down a bit. It will come back up.
xs 2 and it'll be even quicker now that I had TWO chicks get injured on that dumb fan in there.

I had one that pipped late afternoon Friday and three others hatched before it did. I was worried but left it and in it's own time it hatched late this morning on it's own. As long as temp and humidity are good and there is movement, I would leave it.
