Got a photo of our broody hen with her chick from this HAL. This was the hen that shipped from PA and then went broodie within 24 hours, so she has been in quarantine with her friend that she shipped with. It is so cute to see Momma and Auntie raise this chick. I love how maternal cochins are! I was cleaning the quarantine coop and the weather was fantastic, so they got to hang out in the sun a bit.

Figures. I have a broody. Why couldn't she go broody a few weeks ago?

Guess I have to give her some eggs to hatch.

This is my blue frizzle bantam cochin, she heard I was hatching some of her eggs for the EHAL and she has been sitting since sometime between the 2nd and 5th of April...I was occupied with waiting on her eggs in incubator so I'm not positive when she sat...all four of them hatched....she's sitting on 14!!

She only started laying in February!!

Dropped this egg earlier... I peeled back shell and lookie! I think the yolk may be broke though :(. But it's still cool to see it move and stuff. I hope its okay to keep it in the incubator...

Ideas?

It will dry out like that--What day of incubation is it?

I've heard of people fixing cracks with nail polish, could you glue a piece of clear plastic over it somehow? To keep it moist? Wide clear packing tape...

It is worth trying.

Keep us posted.
