That's a good question... Hope somebody knows =)

If you are using a little giant digital incubator.....I will smash it for free

Short answer is incubator temperature during incubation and ventilation as the most common problems. #6 and 7 on the hatch problem analysis pdf should be looked at.

Here is a screen shot of #6

The entire hatch analysis is here:

Three of the dead were Delawares and one was a Delaware x EE.

Make sure that the vent is all the way open. Verify the temperatures.

What humidity did you incubate at? Did you get the humidity pump?

incubating under 25% is fatal for many eggs. Another problem is Delawares. Most lines in the US do not have vigor and do not hatch well. The newly created line from Kathyinmo does not have that problem

Look at the hatch problem chart and check into the flock causes.

Lol. I really have a hate/hate relationship with those bators. I told their customer service "guru" the incubators would work...If we put a broody hen inside it

Now that is funny

My roo will never be out in the coop with the others. His balance issues keeps him from efficently defending himself. I have another roo that likes to go after him and while Peep will try, he's at a disadvantage. He walks and runs ok, but if he lifts a leg to scratch an itch he'll start falling over. Usually I let him out with two of my other girls so he's getting getting time with others. They get along fairly well. I plan on building him a mini coop/run by the house this summer so he can spend the nice days outside, but more than likely he'll always be our "pet chicken". This is him. He's always kept the fluffy feathers under his adult feathers, at first I thought it was another result of the delay, but then I started wondering if it could be due to a silkie cross (He has mildly feathered feet as well, but only 4 toes.) He has the ameracauna muff and beard too. He's quite a mix, but I love him. He is my first ever chicken...lol Sadly I can't use him for breeding, but he'll remain part of the family.
Aww he is beautiful! My girl falls when she tries to scratch as well. She is my pet right now as well, the other two go outside and she stays inside

My little giant digital has done well for my first hatch, after I got an accurate thermometer

I have tried the 9300 and 10300.
According to my math Miller MFG. (Little Giant) owes me $1,021.
You may get lucky a time or 2.
You will never have good hatches with that crap

Mine did well too...35 at lockdown. 28 hatched. The rest were quitters...I'm not complaining. Plus... I borrowed it so it only cost me to run it.

I hatched Delaware's for The Easter Hal
Along with many others. My Delaware's only hatched 4 out of 13 everything else hatched at 70% and above
