SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH!
Scientist Irene Coin of the Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Leipzig in Germany received an award on March 11, 2015 for her breakthrough discovery of a method to determine the gender of chickens within the eggshell as early as day 3 of incubation, at which point the embryo does not feel pain . With the use of laser technology, a microscopic hole is made in the eggshell, resulting light pattern is then examined and interpreted by scientists. The hole is sealed and the male eggs can then be used for other purposes such as in animal feeds. The technology is projected to be ready for use by 2017.

I did read about this--it only works for sexlinks because there is a difference early. It will not work for regular breeds and can only be done at a hatchery.

If anyone is still around and wants to help me with a mystery...

I've done another hatch since the Easter hatch and it was terrible. I had 4 babies zip halfway and then die. The membranes looked yellow like they were dried out almost immediately, but the humidity was fine and 11 others hatched just fine with no yellow membranes. I did not do a eggtopsy, because I'm tired of death. My hatches this year have all been bad. Anyway, what are the most likely culprits for dying halfway through zipping?

LOL at the rate you are voicing your hatred for this incubator and if you keep offering this service your gonna have a house sized mound to smash. Youll need to come up with some fun and creative ways to break all those.
