Mine did well too...35 at lockdown. 28 hatched. The rest were quitters...I'm not complaining. Plus... I borrowed it so it only cost me to run it.
Maybe Im dumb

I wish u the best hatch ever. I know how it is to end up with a bunch of chicks dead in the shell.
I have tried the 9300 and 10300.
According to my math Miller MFG. (Little Giant) owes me $1,021.
You may get lucky a time or 2.
You will never have good hatches with that crap
No, can't imagine trying this at home! Sexlinks? Makes sense. Why do it then? hmmm..??I did read about this--it only works for sexlinks because there is a difference early. It will not work for regular breeds and can only be done at a hatchery.

It is for the hatcheries so that they can destroy the male eggs, which is why the article said that they would know at three days when no pain was felt. What was left un said was when they killed the embryo.
It is coming from pressure from the society that we cannot name.
I have one forced air and one for hatching that is a still air. They hold temp a lot better after I painted both of them. When I hatch my home grown eggs They hatch 80-90 percent. Shipped eggs are not that high but I am happy with what I get from them. I think you may have gotten some duds....

I'm happy you have it working well for you now!At the end of the Easter hatch along, I was pretty discouraged. I set 14 eggs for the HAL that I got from breeder because I wanted Wheaten Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. That didn't work out and all of the chicks died either as they pipped or in the shell. I think this was because I got bad directions on how to incubate. The instructions I got said to put in one plug on day 18 (lockdown) and the other on the first pip. THAT WAS BAD ADVICE!!!
So I gathered some eggs from my backyard. They are barnyard mix because I currently have my chickens mixed together. I put them in the incubator on the Tuesday after Easter. I had to know if it was a bad incubator, bad advice, or something else all together. Using free eggs to test it out seemed like a better idea than buying eggs from the breeder again until I could work out the kinks in my system. I used the dry incubation instructions that I used before but this time I just set the plugs aside because I think they were the problem. The only other change I made was the direction of the turner. The previous time, I had the turner positioned front to back in the windows and this time I turned it right to left. This may seem insignificant but it seemed to align with the warming element on the lid of the incubator this way.
I put the eggs in lockdown last night. 8 (3 blue eggs and 5 brown eggs) of the 9 eggs I set developed. This morning, I woke up to one pip and in the hour that followed I got 5 more. 6 of the 8 have pipped so far. They aren't even due to hatch til Tuesday but I am very encouraged. This is more pips with fewer eggs than I got with the purchased eggs.
I am hoping to report some hatches soon! I hope you will hope with me and I will let you all know how it goes...
Yep, still here, just a busy weekend for my family. The badges are done manually every quarter.Hey Happy, are you still coming on here? Just wondering who/when do I ask to get my beautiful 5 yr. badge? 5 yrears! I can't believe it's been that long.
In my experience, it would be humidity or ventilation issues. Do you have a picture of the membranes? If anyone is still around and wants to help me with a mystery...
I've done another hatch since the Easter hatch and it was terrible. I had 4 babies zip halfway and then die. The membranes looked yellow like they were dried out almost immediately, but the humidity was fine and 11 others hatched just fine with no yellow membranes. I did not do a eggtopsy, because I'm tired of death. My hatches this year have all been bad. Anyway, what are the most likely culprits for dying halfway through zipping?
That was exactly what I got out of that too.It is for the hatcheries so that they can destroy the male eggs, which is why the article said that they would know at three days when no pain was felt. What was left un said was when they killed the embryo.

I think if you can get a bator to hold a steady temp you can work it out and have fine hatches. A lot of the issues with the 9300 I've heard is that probe and lots of people have found ways to stabilize it so the temp holds more steady. Most people t hat I know that are using them AND having decent/good hatches also have to set the darn thing 3-4 degrees higher than it says to get the correct temp inside the bator. No, you shouldn't have that much trouble with a bator and yes, LG has seriously goofed up with these new ones, but if you can work out the snags you can make it work. Luckily I have the 9200, and while it takes much babysitting, I am having awesome hatches.Hmm idk then lol, I think it does well so far ;-) but I also feel like I'm good at hatching because my very first time I used a homemade incubator and I got 2 out of 3 to hatch, which was amazing to me and then my second hatch, in the little giant, I got 6 out of 6 to hatch. So idk maybe we are lucky ;-)
